When is too much too much!

For me it was yesterday, driving down the freeway with tears streaming down my face after a radio announcement of yet another senseless road accident taking a young life.. now knowing personally how devastating that is for families. It's every time I open Facebook or watch the news and see the horror that happens every day around the world. At the risk of upsetting some readers it is knowing that so many of the good citizens of the US have been taken in by a man who has the potential to begin the next world war and when that happens it won't be about colour, religion or money, it will be about survival, and you can bet he will be sipping champers somewhere safe thinking how brilliant the TV ratings would be.. if only it wasn't actual reality! Again without intending to offend I personally feel religion and politics are two separate matters, religion is a personal belief, politics is about governing in the best way possible. With the approach of Spring here in Australia I'm hoping to restore my jaded view of the world by spending the rest of the month pruning and planting, reading and sleeping :) Hopefully if I haven't offended too many I will see you back here on 1st September, take care and most of all stay safe...

  1. A beautiful bird! Enjoy the break, Grace.

As for Herr TrumpenCombover, I have faith that there aren't enough crazy or stupid people in the United States to vote that insufferable bastard in.

    1. There are quite a few unfortunately. Many live in the South and hide in corners all over the country. They'd love to be white supremacists if they could. I'm moving to Mexico if this guy is voted into office. He makes me sick.

    2. Makes me sick too! Thank you for your generous take on my country William. I trust you are right. But we leave nothing to chance and will work work work till election day. We DO have a checks and balances system, and the intelligence and military have already indicated I think that they will not be following any mad orders!

  3. Have a great break Grace, enjoy your gardening and reading.
I too hope that the Americans make the best choice by not voting for Trump.
    Great photo.

  4. We have seen and experienced exactly how Hitler came to power in Germany in the 30s. Lies and hate are the core of da Trump. It's the scariest thing I've ever known. This is not the country I in which I grew up and came to love. Even more frightening is that it's possible he is certifiably insane!

  5. Grace, turn off that TV or radio. It's horrible. Let me tell you as an American. I will not be voting for Trump. What a tremendous loser! Anyone who votes for this guy needs to have their heads examined. I look at his supporters and they are a glorified group off KKK members. Here's what it is. Our population has changed. It's no longer white supremacy as it once was. The old coots are dying and this is their last hurrah to white power. Racism is alive and well in the US. Unfortunately, they take the uneducated and poor to their side. Trump is worrisome for many of us.

As for the young driver killed. It's senseless and doesn't make sense. Look to your photography to heal. This great big world is getting smaller every day with the technology and the fast lines of communication. It all happened before, but we just never heard about it. So to control the crazy external info, I just shut it off and focus on my birds:) Hugs to you!

  7. It is horrifying what you Americans have to hear. Like little kids . Both sides.
Nater, Natter. Us Canadians get fed up hearing it on our news.

  8. I know how you feel, Grace. A mental health break from time to time is a good idea. BUT, if the urge to show us more beauty from Perth seizes you, don't feel bound to stay away until September 1. (Gorgeous bird . . . that colorful one with the red beak . . . you, too.)

  9. Jings! That parrots bigger than me!
You cannot offend by being honest.
Anyone who votes for Trump deserves abuse anyway!
There is more to the world than what is seen on TV sweetie, life has many good things to enjoy.
That eight foot parrot is one of them!
Enjoy the break and bring colour to the garden.

  10. It's interesting to hear Princes William and Harry talk somewhat candidly of late about the death of their mother. No matter how important and rich you are, she was still their mum.

  15. It´s always sad to learn in the news when lifes get killed on the roads, big hugs, Grace.
As for Trump - I don´t think he will find enough dumbheads who really vote for him. I deeply hope so!
    Enjoy your break!

  16. Enjoy your break. You are right, sometimes the news is just too hard to take. I enjoyed Lowell's comments above because I've thought exactly the same thing. I don't understand how some people can be so blind.

  22. How can I face my international friends with THIS going on in my own country?! We will all do what we can to save our countrymen from themselves even as they berate, belittle, and hate us for moving forward with reality. *SIGH* And I too cry many times a day at both beauty and tragedy. Each news flash is a punch to the gut. This is why what we share - the truth, the sanity of what life really IS - is so very important. You are important to me, to us. So take you righteous sabbatical from our blogging world knowing that you will be missed, loved, and welcomed back with much tail wagging joy <3

  23. A break sounds like a good idea. As an aside, in the 80s, people around the world thought Ronald Reagan was going to start WW III.

  24. Don't worry too much. I think he's going to be badly beaten. (http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/?ex_cid=rrpromo) There is a chronic problem, though, that in parts of this country religion and politics are intertwined, not withstanding what our constitution says.

  27. I know your feelings exactly. I too have been feeling a little less strong than I should be in the light of world, local and personal news. I am trying to write my way out of this slump to break the stranglehold. My procrastination skills are at an all time high and I must terminate that urgently. Adore your rosella. He's worth a smile.

  29. It frightens me to look at all the mad people in the world. How can someone like Trump even get that far? The world is going backwards and all the sensible people are in hiding?
Don`t listen to the radio, switch off the TV and don`t read the news....
I am sending you good thoughts all the way from here to you.

  33. I sometimes get quite anxious about world politics and when I look at Trump I’m bewildered that he has got this far, it is very scary. I hope that all the good American citizens outvote the others. Beautiful photo. Enjoy your break.

  34. That photo is just fantastic.

May you have a great break Grace.
Relax and enjoy some reading and a little gardening.

Now, I have just poured a nice glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc to go with my dinner (it's Sunday evening as I type this). I will pour you one too, virtually speaking of course.

    Cheers!

    Take care my blogging friend

    All the best Jan

  45. Trump is puzzling, and worrying. But he isn't stupid and, aside from the racists, he also fills a gap that has been created by other politicians. They need to learn from it, not bury their heads in the sand. You take care, Grace - none of us can take the world's worries on our shoulders. Love the parrot - looks like a Norwegian blue?

  46. Grace, I share your concerns and wish that events in our wide world were different. I mourn all the devastation in the Middle East and grieve for the mothers and children and all the innocent victims of war and turmoil on our planet. Life seems so senseless sometimes, doesn't it?

  47. If you want to know how Germany took the path it did in the 30s, just look at what's happening in the US right now. You are right on. I cannot imagine life here if he should win the presidency. Mike above is wrong. Trump is stupid as evidenced by his business experience. But worse, he's psychopathic. And ignorant. He doesn't even know how our government operates, who makes the laws, for example. I could go on and on but it's nice to know there are people like you who understand just how dangerous he is.
