Fringe Buskers Weekend.. Tumble Circus.

Perth as always in February is gripped by Fringe fever! So many fantastic shows to see that it's almost impossible to choose! Many of the artists took to the streets of the city last weekend during the Fringe World Buskers Weekender. Two of the crew from Ireland's award winning Tumble Circus entertained an enthusiastic audience with a hilarious mix of acrobatics and juggling on the stage in Forrest Place. If you are wondering why I took the shots from behind, three reasons.. one I had the space all to myself, two I wanted the city and the audience as a backdrop, and thirdly I was in a good position to ask for the shot above when the show was over.. clever thinking right :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Puppy Love..

I looove this one, just look at that face💙 On the way home from breakfast on Sunday we stopped in Yokine to find the lovable pooch here on the side wall of the new Aldi building in the Dog Swamp Shopping Centre. Part of the re-brand of the shopping centre this and ducky just around the corner were created by Kingman Visual. If you were curious re the name, it was originally named ' Native Dog Swamp' by the English, referring to the dingoes or native dogs who would have used the waterhole for drinking purposes.. nowadays it is a bird sanctuary, not a dingo in sight :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...  P.s. thanks so much for all the lovely birthday wishes for Aimee yesterday..

Mentation in Chinta..

A quiet hour in a hectic weekend was spent enjoying a happy birthday breakfast yesterday for Aimee in Asian inspired Chinta Cafe in North Perth. According to the Oxford dictionary chinta means mentation, the definition of which meaning the process of using your mind to consider something carefully. Whether or not this was the motivation for the name there is certainly much to stimulate the mind and taste buds in Chinta. Apart from the eclectic decor there are enticing gift and home-wares to explore.. in my minimalist period I felt this was best avoided :) Hope you've had/are still having a wonderful weekend, for me it's the beginning of a new week, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

"Can I please have a look at your abalone"..

I don't think I've ever asked a man emerging from the ocean that question before and I'm surprised at how many were happy to show me :) On Sorrento beach early yesterday morning to take photos for the first time of the recreational abalone fishing that occurs only four times a year for exactly one hour each time.. from 7am to 8am. The hunt for Abalone, a marine sea snail, a apparently highly tasty morsel, the mother-of-pearl shells used for decoration is hugely popular with Perth's Asian community..

Regulations re size, numbers and current license is incredibly strict, there were inspectors waiting on the beach to examine random catches.. it would have been impossible to check all but the possibility of you being the one hopefully keeps everyone honest. That's the supposedly delectable little suckers below, not the most attractive creatures but cooked this way who knows :) Below that's about the size of most of the bags coming out at the end of the hour, maybe a one family meal size. There was much talking, laughing etc so a successful endeavour all round although for the abalone not so much :) Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. Check out that sky.. it was like an ever changing masterpiece!

Guest post.. Pyrotechnic Palm Trees..

If yesterday's event on the blog was irrelevant while it was still happening then the images taken exactly a week ago on today's post are totally immaterial.. it's just as well that I'm irresponsibly irrepressible and will post them irrespective of that fact as they are irrefutably irreproachable.. that was fun :) Clicks by Bill from South Perth at the Australia Day Skyworks display. I picked the four shots here as they remind me of the fronds of palm trees swaying wildly in the wind.. do you see it :) Happy weekend, take care and stay safe...

CDP Theme 'Tired' ..or the relevance of being relevant!

In Kings Park on Wednesday evening to see the super blue blood moon coming up behind the city. I'm so 'tired' :) of trying to get a good shot of the moon I thought I'd leave it others more capable than I and take pictures of them doing it.. check out the size of that lens below!

It was a warm balmy evening and many had the same idea. Looking out over the city watching the sky turn from golden to purple and finally deep blue as the moon peeped over the top of the building to the right below.. One of my favourite shots, fourth down, with the State War Memorial..

Conversation on the way home.. Aimee sitting in the back seat looking at her phone "there are some fantastic shots of the moon up on Instagram and Facebook". Me "What already, it's still happening, I thought maybe tomorrow". Aimee "It won't be relevant tomorrow mum!" Me "oh it'll be so yesterday I suppose!" Seriously :) My abstract take on the super blue blood moon below, why have one when you can have three! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

The Big Splash V.. Ocean Turbulence.

It's no secret that my favourite colour is blue, so 'Ocean Turbulence' by Robert Jenkins, looking like it's about to dive into the harbour at Elizabeth Quay is one of my favourite dolphins around the city. Created for the Big Splash together with Perth Children's Hospital Foundation to draw attention  to the mental health issues of children and young people. The little blue men, trademark of Robert Jenkins can be seen all over the city and suburbs and often right here :) I haven't forgotten the theme day subject 'tired', I just don't have anything.. hopefully tomorrow! Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..
