Things we don't see!

Isn't it so easy 'not to see' as we walk around familiar places. To be fair :) the sculpture 'Age Shall Not Weary Them' by WA sculptor Greg James has only been sitting here on the  steps of the 'Fallen Soldiers Memorial' in Subiaco since last year.. created to commemorate the 2015 Anzac Centenary. The monument unveiled in 1923 'is a red brick neo-classical clock tower with white plaster embellishments and a copper conical roof. There is a single clock face with roman figures facing south-east'. It was only when I downloaded that I noticed the young lady sitting on the opposite side of the steps, I would have taken more care with the shot if I'd spotted her! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe. P.s. sculptures two days in a row, that doesn't happen often :)

  1. An excellent memorial and, for once, a fitting stature tribute also!
Close ups of the women are welcomed actually...

  5. 'Tis a fine monument and lovey sculpture and I agree wholeheartedly with you about not noticing things which are right in front of our eyes for one reason or another. It's not that I'm a bad person, but there are time when my mind is preoccupied with other concerns and that's why I bump into sculptures and stub my toe and then go on my way and can't remember what it was that caused my toe to hurt. Or, it could be just that I am growing old and can't remember what the heck is going on around me these days. ??

  7. That was a bonus then with the reading girl, any photo will be better with a person in it.

  8. Although I often make a conscious effort to be more observant, I find that there is still a lot of my environment that I miss.

  10. That is a wild bit of architecture. A classical temple facade as decoration, a general design that looks Germanic to me and a witch's hat on top. The sculpture is the most beautiful part.

Not that it was much of an accomplishment but we climbed up Anzac Hill in Alice Springs many years ago. A moving experience.

  16. When you write WA, do you mean our Washington state???? It is so interesting how some of our national monuments are created by artists from other countries. I love the sculpture, and I immediately noticed the traditional hat. How beautiful. I like the red circles that tell your about the sculpture and the building.
