I saw the Greek Orthodox Church last week when we were driving through West Perth. I thought about stopping but it was a dull and rainy day and I just knew this church was meant to be photographed with the sun shining off those wonderful copper cupolas so I took these yesterday when the sun was out and the sky tres bleu.. what do you think, was I right! Standing on the incredibly busy corner of Charles and Carr it took a while to get a shot clear of vehicles, it really is a very photogenic church from every which way, that's the city you can see behind in the last shot. I LOVE Greek Orthodox churches and this one is spectacular. My favorite of those I have personally seen is located in Eldorado, NM near Santa Fe, NM. For a really interesting experience, attend one of their services. Makes me want to belong!

ReplyDeleteThe Greek Orthodox churches are always striking.
ReplyDeleteAs it happens, one of the Greek Orthodox churches here is having its annual Greek Festival. The other will have theirs in September. They're always fun--lost of Greek food, dance exhibitions, clothing and other merchandise....
Grace, keep looking up. You always find the most interesting things to photograph. When I lived in Chicago there was a Greek Orthodox Cathedral there. It is a stunning church also.
ReplyDeleteI used to live near the Bayswater one. I looked inside one day and was amazed at the golden vista!A bit over the top but they like it that way.

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful church.
ReplyDeleteCopper may be a fairly common material for roofs of churches, I guess, I don't know.
A funny observation: Your church roof and mine are quite to the contrary in form.
I really like the structure of this church !
