Zzzzzzz! Counting... ?

Wonder what sheep count as they're dropping off to sleep..  perhaps she's dreaming about the handsome stud below. :) These wooly Merino sheep were only one of the attractions at Dowerin Field Day. Yup, this was the reason for the trip out to Dowerin 156km north-east of Perth in the wheatbelt region.. one of the biggest agricultural shows in Australia, this year celebrating it's 50th year...

No Australian agricultural show would be complete without a sheep shearing demonstration..  the somewhat startled 'don't look I'm naked' expression on the sheep peeking out from behind the shearer made me smile :)

Aussie men in Aussie Akubra hats checking out old engines!

Shiny Chevrolet hood adornments...

Farming equipment old and new.. I know nothing of these things :)

We city slickers don't get out to the country very often but whenever we do it's always an enjoyable experience.. perfect timing too, the weather was brilliant on Thursday, yesterday not so much, rain and storms, that could have been tricky! Did this week ziiiiip by as fast for you as it did for me? Have a wonderful weekend, take care and stay safe...

  3. That was a real change for a city slicker, Grace! The sheep do look a bit embarrassed by the whole thing.

  4. They got to be happy, though, about losing several pounds of wool. Whew!

  8. This reminds me of a sheep who belonged to the owners of a boarding stable where we kept my horses while Dad was building our own barn. The crazy sheep was always climbing into the trunk of our car when it was open.

  9. Some nice old cars, trucks and tractors. I recognized some of them and they were made back in the 20s and 30s. Reminds me of some events here. We have a county fair coming up next month and there should be lots of animals there. Did you get one of those hats to wear?

  13. There are some very queer and interesting tractors there. Did you bring home a side of lamb for the freezer?

  17. A fun and different day for sure! The sheep look so sad when they are "naked". Those hairy footed horses are beautiful.

  18. Did you find time to bottle the 'smell' that only comes from an 'Ag Show'?

  25. Susie and Wes have three sheep, too few to entice the professional sheep shearers to visit and shear them. So, Wes promised to pay a neighbor in beer if he would visit and help Wes Shear them. I hear it was a hysterical sight.
