Dearest B.J. I love you, enjoy ....!

Written on inside page of 'Flights of Love' a collection of love stories.. did it influence my decision to buy the book, hell yes! what can I say, I'm a sucker for romance :) We finally made it to the HUGE book sale yesterday at UWA, an annual event raising money for Save the Children Australia, held in the Undercroft of Winthrop Hall.. a book lover's utopian dream, if you are in Perth the dream continues until Wednesday evening...

Antique volumes with their well worn binders alongside shiny new hardback covers...

My final selection...

The only other way to raise money that's as enjoyable as books is cupcakes, I can eat many cupcakes in the name of a good cause :) Did I mention we're having stormy weather.. at last, here in Perth, perfect for perusing through thousands of books oui! Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...

  1. I'd be quite happy in there looking among the books for something of interest. And what a setting to be doing it in!

  2. Oh, I love book store sales where I can load up my book cases -- particularly as Fall is approaching! Great shots, wish I were there right now! Have a great week, Grace!!

  3. It's daft that books generally keep their value more by not being read. Read books hold affection and history. Much better.

  7. It is interesting that while we are surrounded by electronics, there is still a good market for books. I heard a ship or two ran away in Freemantle and crashed into a railway bridge.

  8. Sweet memories, Grace! Thanks to the search of Star Trek books I - we- visited soooo many second hand bookshops in Australia and yes, amongst other we got all 11 James Blish-books from the 1965 to... and now here on my shelf they sit :-) I´m so dang proud of it!
Here the shops are called "Antiquariat" and come along often with expensive books only/mainly, too.
Guess if Ingo hears "second hand book shop" he runs ;-) I was obsessed! And always won. Yips. Women, huh?

  9. Your photos have me trying to breathe in that old paper and binding glue smell that comes with any huge collection of used books. I love that smell. It's the smell of knowledge to me. This is an event that I would enjoy very much and if it was a rainy, stormy day, all the better.

  16. Those older books take my fancy! Wonder what they do with all the books that DON'T sell? Was it a bit like a Rugby scrum on the first day?
