Art and construction...

When I see the city from different spots these days it blows me away just how much Perth is changing. The Swan River foreshore is being ripped up, skyscrapers are going up left right and centre, it's a little intimidating. Hopefully in time I'll look back and wonder why I felt apprehensive for our 'more laid back than other Australian cities that's what was so great about it' Perth :) It's all good in the shot above.. looking over from Murray St to Wellington St. where the excellent Perth City Link (informative link) project is steaming ahead and in the foreground un petit glimpse of some of the spectacular art to be found around the city since the FORMPublic project in April. Change is scary good, right :) Have a fab Thursday, take care... p.s. hoping for some rain today!

  1. The art certainly helps things along. I'm not much of a fan of construction cranes these days.

  2. All of those cranes remind me of Europe! I hope that you get that rain.

  4. There is so much of this sort of building/growth these day here in the states as well as other places all over the world!! And, yes, I too have mixed feelings, too!! Your capture says it all, Grace!!

  5. Maybe the artists could do something to make the cranes look less ugly....

I hear there was some group heroic action going on in your city. Big shout-out to the Perthites!

  6. Fabulous angle, so much to see, so many colourful murals. The cars look dwarfed!

  9. That's a terrific photo, Grace and captures well your apprehension about the pace and the amount of change going on. Change isn't easy, even when it's for the best. Well, that's what I've been told. At my age, I don't like any change!

  10. Cranes on the horizon = apparent prosperity = happiness. Change for the better is good.

  12. So much construction going on Grace. A bit like Melbourne. Cranes everywhere you look. I guess it is a good thing. PS In answer to your question yesterday ... yes the contrast in architecture shot was the spot where I took the abstract photo the day before. Cheers J.

  14. Hmmm. I'm not positive change is GOOD but for sure it is inevitable so we might as well go with the flow. (Most of the time, anyway.) All those cranes remind me of Toronto's skyline. Toronto seems to be changing at the speed of light and maybe Perth is too.
