Thinking 'inside' the frame.....

As far back as I can remember I've always looked at things 'in a frame' wondering what kind of image they'd make. Most of the time my camera sits in my (huge) bag and comes everywhere with me just in case, now and then I'll deliberately leave it behind with the aim of just chilling out and enjoying the sights, it really doesn't work because guaranteed I'll see something excellent and think 'merde, if only'..swearing in French never seems quite so vulgar haha!! Anyway here are a few things that caught my eye a couple of days ago in the city. Above reflections of the Wesley Church in a very modern building next door, below I thought the last of the autumn colours suited this building so well.....
Sculpture (Tree of Life) by Rod Laws beside the  Wesley Church.....
Stepping out in style in Alannah Hill.....
Spend more time together in Perth... I think we should don't you.....?
There's a McDonalds around every corner down every lane.....
and one just for fun, read the words and check out the happy look on Aimee's face.....!

  1. I'm SO glad you had your camera with you, Gracie, these are terrific!! You have caught all of "those" shots that we miss when we don't take our cameras! And, yes, swearing in French does sound so much better! I love it! Hope you're getting ready for a great weekend -- and I hope you have some good weather. We're having a gorgeous day in Seattle today! Hooray!! Not sure how long it will last, but I'll take what I can get when I can get it!!

  7. This post is a superb testimony as to why one should always have a camera at hand. So many interesting things/people to see. Each very special in its own way and lots of fun. You had me grinning from the beginning! I love the tree of life, and the bird perched on what appears to be a Muslim woman's head! Love all the special colors, the rich reds!

I have, in the past, done what you mentioned - left the camera at home. It NEVER works! I've always regretted doing that! And there is a law of nature that if your camera is at home the most fantastic photo opportunities ever will be presented to you and you will rue the day! :-)

  8. I sometimes leave my Canon at home...but then, I always have my Droid with me, which has a fair camera, and I have this little Sony Cybershot that fits right inside my purse for those moments when I absolutely have to have that photo! I really love that 2nd shot with the autumn leaves. So strange for me...we are in the middle of summer here...have a wonderful day!

  13. Ooh, a wonderful tour of the city sights and (I can almost hear it) sounds! I love the reflections and that sculpture, not to mention the sign - haha! Superficiality is fun sometimes :)

  14. This is a terrific set of photos. They give a lot of flavor of the city. Some working class Americans use the phrase "pardon my French" as an apology for using coarse language.

  20. Your first photo actually looks like a painting! Love the colours, lines and textures (that actually makes me sound like I know what I'm talking about, right?1?!).

But my favourite (of course) is the red brick - just say the word and you could be my next RED Alert guest ...
