Spending big at the casino.....!

That was without even placing a bet! We had a bit of an anniversary 'thing' yesterday, so P and I went for lunch at the Burswood Hotel, which is so much more than just a casino. As you come into the main lobby the first thing that you see is a magnificent mirror paneled, art deco styled structure, you can see the lifts going up and down to the hotel rooms (417 of them!) just behind and the Atrium restaurant  where we had lunch just to the left hand side....
Who can resist a mirrored reflection that makes them tall and skinny haha!
The outside pool area is pretty special....
On the way out we passed the the casino, so of course  I wanted to take a shot to show you the entrance to this 'den of iniquity', only joking, no judgement, if a person wants to gamble away their hard earned money so be it, only, as I was clicking away I was totally unaware of the door person flapping his arms and calling me to STOP! Apparently it was 'A' ok for me to take photo's everywhere else in the complex, but a big no no at the entrance to the above mentioned 'd of e'. It was only when I downloaded that I saw him there just at the beginning of his little hissy fit haha! Half way point in the week already, careful, don't blink or it'll be gone.....!

  1. Ha! You trouble-maker!

Amazing building though. The ceiling of glass is beautiful.

  2. Oh wow. What a place. M'not a gambler at all but I'd have to photograph this! It sort of reminds me of the gorgeous Sony Centre in Berlin!

  4. Casinos are notorious for not allowing photos. Shame really, as all those flashing lights would make great photos (I wouldn't really care about the people inside!)

  5. This building is very impressive, especially this wonderful atrium. And the swimming-pool! OMG!!

  6. What a fantastic building and I, too, love the atrium and the pool!!! To die for!! Well, that's a little extreme, but you get what I mean! I'm no a gambler, but I think it's funny that they don't want their pictures taken! HaHa glad you pulled off some shots -- I would have tried, too! Thanks for the fun this morning, Grace! Just the chuckles I needed!

  7. Good looking place. The pool looks delightful. When I saw the pic of the slot machine area, the first thing I thought was, "How did she get away with that?!'. Happy Tuesday!

  8. Fabulous building. I guess he thought that you could be casing the joint for a heist!

  9. Impressionnant ce building, très belles photos !!!!

  10. It is quite a place. Casinos might be one of the few places where I can actually understand why they don't want photos taken.

  11. So you've got people with a little authority trying to exercise it, too! :-)

This is a magnificent place. I'd like to sit there and people-watch for a day and take photos (surreptitiously, of course!)...

Your photos are lovely and show off the grandeur of this building very well. So how was the food?

  12. The reflection photos get my vote. Maybe the door person was moonlighting?? :-).

  14. I for one love casinos...however, I play the penny and nickel machines so I don't break the bank! I won the jackpot once in Atlantic City on the nickel machines - 1800 nickels came pouring out - $90 - woohoo! Great photos anyway...and the doorman flapping his arms is really too funny!

  16. Somewhat nicer than Melbourne's casino which has a very closed in feeling. Your readers would have clubbed together to raise your bail had you been arrested.

  17. OMG the architectures are so breathtaking and I wish I could go there....

  18. It's amazing what 'THEY' say about where we can shoot! I was told not to at a shopping centre, when I asked why I was told "It's a rule". Great shots as always, Grace. (Not been there for years!!)

  19. Quite a spectacular building but I can't believe that security let you get away with any photos of the casino. Around here they would ground you with a flying tackle after your first shot.

  20. Wow, what a place...

  21. Wow, this is some spectacular place. Bob's comment made me laugh but, it is oh so true. Here they would have had a look at my camera and made me delete the offending photos. You're lucky he just waved his arms about.

  22. Quelle architecture moderne! Il fallait oser. Mais c'est très réussi.
    Merci, Gracie!

  23. Really interesting post- the light and modernity of the first photos made me wonder what kind of a casino this could be- not the usual dark den- but it still looks like the traditional type deep inside, from what you were able to take. How funny to post a photo of the man telling you not to take photos!

  24. A spectacular place to have lunch, yes at casinos they are very scary people making photos. You might photograph a well known person who is loosing his money? It is all privacy there.

  25. That glass ceiling is very pretty! I have taken photos inside the casino, nobody stopped me, didn´t know I couldn´t....oops!

  26. Wow! Love the architecture in that first shot. It reminds me of the Sony Center in Berlin. :)

  27. The pool is magnificent and inviting. The "guard" is pretty amusing. Wonder what the reason is, for the prohibition of photos?

  28. Haven't been to Burswood for ages Grace. Looks like it would have been a nice spot for your anniversary. Hope you had a wonderful celebration. Congratulations and enjoy the rest of this disappearing week.

  29. I am laughing .. apparently its a den of anonymous gamblers hence the no photo rule at the doorway .. I love that pool .. its very chilly here today after a long heatwave so I am going to sit here for a while and let myself soak up that sun

  30. The first picture is so great-captured! You interpret the great building into a picture well! Love it!

Anyway, things are going well here, just more busy since I've joined at vocational school.
    Salam untuk keluargamu. ;)

  31. Give me pool time! You can have the slots.

  32. I'm not a casino person, but this would tempt me.

  33. The Deco mirrors are absolutely gorgeous! Also like the ceiling on the top shot. What a great place.

  34. Great shots of this swanky place, Grace! I'm not a gambler, but I enjoy the theatricality of a lot of these gambling establishments.

  35. Casinos are very sad places. I do not like them for precisely the reason James Packer adores them. And this is HIS den of iniquity!

  36. Whoa! It is more than just a casino. After hours of gambling, it’ll probably be nice to relax by the pool. Anyway, it’s a shame you didn’t get to take pictures inside the casino, you could’ve gotten a lot of pretty pictures there. =)
