Early morning puzzler.....

When it's possible, especially if it's going to be a scorcher, I like to set my equilibrium straight by starting the day off really early with a big mug of coffee and a crossword puzzle outside in the fresh air before it gets unbearably hot. If it's through the week, it's usually a ten minute crossword from any magazines that might be hanging about, if it's the weekend and there's more time it's the cryptic crossword from the paper. If you're not at work at the crack of dawn, how do you like to start your day?

  1. Great way to start the day! I usually turn on the computer and see what's happening and then Sam Schnauzer and I go for a walk! It's usually good to get back inside lately as we generally get a bit wet! Hope you have a good day after a good start, Grace!!

  5. My very first thing is to sit down with the laptop and check on my blogs - which usually takes an hour to get through everything - then coffee, the newspaper, and my day starts - sometimes to the office, even though I am retired - sometimes housework, and sometimes out to shoot photos. I have SUCH a rough life! Have a great day, Grace!

  6. It looks like you have an ideal spot for getting the day off to a good start. Every day is different with me, but usually it begins with various blogging activities...then, quite often, a round of golf...

...and there's so much more. I'm busier now than when I was working!

Re your photography, I'd say keep up the good work. Oh, I love crossword puzzles, too, but haven't had much time to do them lately...

  7. Wonderful spot to start the day. Our garden is a work in progress, but on weekends I like to catch up on sleep so I often miss the cooler morning temperatures.

  9. You have a gentle and refreshing place to start the day. Mine starts with about 750 cc of strong, dark roast coffee, breakfast in the car or at my desk, then plunging into work. Not gentle at all.

  11. Slowly. With several cups of coffee and a sudoku. It's cool and raining here, so no real hurry to get out into the weather. Best wishes.

  12. Oh that's an easy question for me....a long stroll in the Desert Botanical Garden with camera in hand. Lovely garden shots!

  13. I like the mood of your terrace!
First , a big cup of chocolate or tea, then a long walk near the shore, along the sea.

  22. A lovely post Grace- so nice to see a glimpse of your domestic life. As for me, a work day usually sees me at my flat with a big bowl of muesli and juice listening to the BBC world Service news- weekend is a similar breakfast with coffee, and chatting with whoever else has arisen in the family home- then off for a long walk...

  25. I wish I had a place to sit outside .. instead in the mornings I am feeding cats, checking emails, watching/listening to the news and weather and then rushing about/getting dressed with 15 minutes to spare before I have to leave

  26. Crosswords? No way Grace. But coffee and an early morning walk will get me going.

  27. I get up, turn on my little net book in the dining room, put on the coffee, make toast, squeeze juice, eat, check my blog/mail, and then take a loooong dog walk. I do crossword puzzles sometimes, but not in the morning.

  28. Retirement affords many luxuries like staying in bed till I'm ready to get up. Meeps and I roll out around 8, check the blogs and emails with a cup of coffee and get dressed eventually. I'd love to join you on your porch Grace. It looks so inviting.

  29. One cafe au lait, 2 croissants and the paper, that's how I start my days, going over to FB, my blogs. Crosswords? French ones, strength 4/5, but only at work.

  34. Wonderful, relaxing atmosphere, Grace. Now that I'm off coffee, I nibble some fruit and catch up on the news online.

  35. My day starts at different times depending on my shifts, but I always have breakfast...juice, coffee, weetbix and I'm off. I try to make a post here before I head off to work unless I'm off or on a late shift, in which case it can be more leisurely. Looks like a gret spot you have there Grace.

  36. Well, «Louis» (who happens to have a coffee business...) certainly starts his day with a hot cuppa joe! In fact, he's off to the kitchen now to make his second one for the morning!

  38. Here in France I listen to the Radio (France inter) - I love it. In Sydney, the Sunday paper was a treat!

  39. I have very different mornings. Sometimes I start at work 07.00
Other times I work until midnight....
But I would love to have more mornings like this, and to be able to actually sit outside.
Spring is here, so it will soon be better.

You have a very pretty place to relax and enjoy the mornings.
