Skyscrapers and laundry baskets.....!

Well I went out looking for a bit of fun, and I think I found it sitting looking very much out of place in the Supreme Court Gardens, trouble is I can't tell you very much about it!! I've searched Google under every combination of key words I can think of to no avail. All I can tell you is that it's a sculpture, three actually, made entirely out of what looks like plastic laundry baskets (please click to enlarge, it's too weird) all tied together with plastic snap locks. At first I thought it might be one of the visual art projects included in the Fringe World Festival but then realized that the Perth Festival is on at the same time (it's all happening in Perth!!), so if anyone from Perth is reading this and can enlighten me, feel free! I kind of liked in the first image the combination of 'laundry' baskets and big business, banking...get it , laundry, banking... nah!! that would never happen in Perth haha! I know I say this every week, but surely it can't be Friday already again!! Hope you have a great weekend.....

  1. Well, now that is INTRIGUING!!???? Whatever it is and it's certainly colorful! Don't you sometimes wonder where people come up with ideas like this???? Terrific captures for the day! It would be fun to happen on to something like this -- as long as you have your camera in hand, of course! Hope you have a great weekend, Grace! Enjoy!

  7. The first picture is good photojournalism. The second and especially third are just wonderful photographs. The last one looks like the mouths of hungry and bizarre anemonae under the sea. You were right - it was worth looking at the bigger size.

  11. Well, the banks certainly need to clean up their act and modern art seems to be as much about making money as anything else.....

I recently saw an exhibit on art from 60's/70's/80's ... part of Pacific Standard Time about postcards with 100 boots (welly's)... just bought the book (here is a good sample: https://www.google.com/search?q=100+boots&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=lMA-T6jdBcaMiALd57WyAQ&ved=0CE4QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=821#hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us%3AIE-SearchBox&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=eleanor+antin+100+boots&oq=eleanor+antin+100+boots&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=3783l6170l1l6372l10l10l0l8l8l0l171l233l1.1l2l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=ac4ea26ae49a905b&biw=1280&bih=821)

  32. I'll be borrowing Tash's book. I think your interpretation is excellent. They would call this a site specific installation. It relates to the site and was installed - easy smeasey. It's become a very popular devise in the art world to create the "wow" effect. Do things in multiples. Thousands of multiples. I've seen ingloos constructed from plastic bags and on and on.
