Double rainbow..

I miss these colourful little creatures as they feed in my back garden, making a dreadful din to show the other birds who comes first in the pecking order! I think Cafe de Grace will have to re-open soon :) As a follow on to yesterday's beautifully painted birds I delved into the archives to find some unpublished shots from a few years ago. I needed a further splash of colour to cheer me up and know that many of you are also experiencing mega wet stormy weather right now. Hopefully whatever the weather these gorgeous Rainbow Lorikeets will brighten your day. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

  1. One wonders what bizarre machinations of natural selection could produce something so exquisitely colourful.

  8. They are so beautiful coloured. Someone has ever brought these birds to Amsterdam and freed them in a park. They acclimatized very well to everybody's surprise and now they have taken over the park from the local birds. They chased away the locals and multiplied very speedy. So now we have colourful lorikeets in our trees in the park! So I can imagine they chase your other birds away aswell.

From breaking all records with rainfall earlier this year I am now having to water, the garden is like concrete!!! We need rain, but we do not need storms like on 4 July here!! Keep well Diane

  10. Stunning photos of these birds, Grace. How lucky you are to have them visit you. Yes, we have had rain, 6-8 inches of the stuff last week with many wet basements and some flooding. Fortunately my basement is just fine.

  13. I can't imagine a bird this colorful in my yard. The best we can do are goldfinches and hummingbirds. I love ours but these are dazzling, as noisy as they may be.
