Woodthorpe's mural.. where's the respect!

Came across the mural here by super talented Perth graphic artist Miles Noel when Aimee and I were in North Perth yesterday morning for breakfast. A skillfully executed representation of the history of the area on the wall of a building that since 1925 has housed a watchmaker, an electrician and Pal & Panther Motorcycles now Motor Cycle Pit Stop. I thought here was a code of honour out there, leave other artists work alone, a code that obviously doesn't apply to taggers.. it was upsetting to see this fine piece of work defaced by senseless tagging. Guess there will always be idiots out there without real talent, I think even I could have managed this tag! Happy Monday, take care and stay safe.. p.s. it wasn't me :)

  1. Taggers who deface commissioned murals should be prosecuted and fined. Makes me angry that there is so little regard for the rights of others. Go get your own canvas, spoilers!!

  5. Great colours and design in this mural. Don't understand why the 'sorry' has been written there after the defacing. Surely the tagger wouldn't write that.

  6. I hope the tagger doesn't think he's smart or artistic to ruin the mural.

  7. Taggers need a good smack to the head.

    Forty or fifty thousand times.

  12. It is beautiful, despite the tagging. I don't know why people cannot resist doing that.

  17. Chez nous c'est encore pire, il n'y a presque plus de code d'honneur, de respect pour le travail d'autrui, triste .

  19. A representative mural for those times and activities. It's a shame some people do not appreciate the value and try to destroy it.

  20. Yes, it is a shame to paint your stupid mark over another work. Did he wrote the word sorry as well? Stupid guy.

  28. In my limited experience, taggers tend to be 13 year old boys who rarely think before they act. Maybe later they will be chagrined at their actions. One can hope. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  29. That looks like a super-near one.
Sad to see graffiti on it; it has marred the mural.
