Reflections in Lake Joondalup..

I feel very lucky to live not only five minutes from the beach but also very close to many areas that are perfect for bird watching and communing with nature like Lake Joondalup a freshwater lake in the northern suburbs. You can see in the first shot the water isn't very deep, it's been a long dry summer.

I watched an egret tassel (tassle?) unsuccessfully with something horrid that he'd pulled up from the bottom of the lake before flying off in disgust to try his luck elsewhere..

How is it possible that the reflections from the houses around the lake but set well back from the lake..appear in the lake? I must be having a 'blonde' moment.. it's a good thing it's Friday :) Aimee is making me work walk for my Mothers Day breakfast this year, the 8km Mother's Day Classic to raise money for breast cancer.. I'm looking forward to it! What are you up to this weekend? Take care and stay safe...

  4. No plans yet, but I will probably think of something, although it is supposed to rain on Sunday. I have "blonde moments" all the time.

  7. I love the reflections of the houses, Grace! Spring is always a busy time with gardening and seeing friends who are coming back from a winter down south in Mexico so that will be my weekend.

  10. This looks like a fantastic place for watching the birds. That shallow water is perfect for those long-legged birds who like to wade around and dredge up things from the mud below. Love those reflections.

  11. Warning, reflection implausible. It doesn't make sense to me either but I do know some camera lenses can really distort what is being viewed. I may walk .8 km this weekend. Good luck with the 8 km.

  14. Very beautiful Grace. The sky reminds me of Montana (YEA!!!) and the others, except for the houses, remind me of a place not far from me, Merritt Island.

  20. Love the intense colors in the reflections. You are lucky to live so close this lake. Thanks for the comment. Your countryman, Andrew Bogut, is a critical player on the Warrior team.

  21. Do you think as photographer Grace that we can see what others may not. We look past the obvious, we search for a new angle a different perspective. I think we do. There are reflections in these scenes that many would not have spotted.

  23. "blonde moments", Grace :-) But I have one, too, when I see the odd reflection of the houses! So birds can look annoyed, too, that´s funny!
That´s a good idea with the walk, hope you enjoy it!
