Spotted this work by Perth based artist Haley Welsh in Chinatown. Created during PUBLIC2015 Welsh states that although her work may seem whimsical and light hearted 'the themes to my work are usually from a darker more complex place'. Her 'Little voices' series has been 'themed
around the idea of self-doubt and listening to one’s inner voices
and emotions.. sometimes positive and at other times negative'. I love coming across her work around the city, will show more! Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...
It does look rather sweet until you look at the eyes which seem sad, Grace. I like it though!
ReplyDeleteSweet and sad it is indeed and a wonderful painting! I really like it! Thanks for sharing, as always, Grace!! Hope your new week is off to a great start!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteAmong my favorite things: Chinatown and little voices heard!

ReplyDeleteprachtig om z,on ruimte optimaal te benutten.
ReplyDeleteIs that wise in Chinatown? Kidding... it's a lovely painting and the tail is very elaborate!
ReplyDeletePretty amazing! Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteVery unique mural.
ReplyDeleteI think of the Pied Piper and maybe this is one character not lured by the charm of the pipe. A lovely mural.
ReplyDeleteI usually like more color, but this one can work this way!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this one. Is that a wet pavement I spy? :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is simple and attractive.
ReplyDeletei like it. at first glance...seems like art for a child...but i don't think so. has an eerie feel. the shadow...dripping? melting away?
ReplyDeletelooking forward to more by this artist!
He seems to be struggling while trying to hold his head high in pride.
ReplyDeleteYes, at first I only saw the whimsy of a rat with an extraordinarily long tail.
My first thought was, "Oh, rats!" But then I mellowed. It's cute! :)
ReplyDeleteWhimsical... but melancholy.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a book my mother used to read to me as a kid.
ReplyDeleteThat's a brilliant piece Grace, it made m chuckle, well spotted and captured
ReplyDeleteOh yes, sweet little voices, and such delightful artwork, I look forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mural indeed!!
ReplyDeleteShe seems to be carrying a heavy load....not only the long tail....but the baby on her back.
ReplyDeleteI wish mine would speak up already.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be the only one who wants to 'see' the 3rd mouse/rat around the corner. Both Queen & baby look blind. So glad you keep your eyes open!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a simple palette yet such a significant impact.
ReplyDeleteVery cute mural !!
ReplyDeleteA BIG s-m-i-l-e all the way from me in Norway.
ReplyDeleteCute artistic work!
What a cute painting, with the little one on his back.
ReplyDeleteThose are long tails... tales?
ReplyDeleteCute, seems a bit like the Pied Piper story.
ReplyDeleteI like this one a lot. Holding on to someone stronger is what I see in this one.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, how cute is that, Grace, you made my grey and rainy day with this :-)
ReplyDeletePerth seems to be filled with beautiful works of art!
ReplyDeleteThe little mouse seems fairly content!
ReplyDeletehaha, this is a cute mural, Grace !
