Living sculptures.. in miniature.

It's been a while since I visited the Wanneroo Markets, there was a time I would go every Sunday morning to buy fresh flowers for the week. Fed up lately with the prices and the amount of fillers used in florist shop bunches I decided to head back and see if the flowers at the market were as good as remembered.. they were, I came home with a huge bunch of Ranunculus (no fillers) a certain sign that spring is almost here..

I couldn't leave without admiring the exquisite bonsai in Vina Horticulture, one of the best bonsai  nurseries in Perth, seriously these shots do not do justice to these miniature creations. I have two bonsai at home, a pink Azalea and a native 'I'm not sure what'.. both have been in their same shallow bowl for over 25 years with no change of soil, just a bit of a shape up now and then, they survive on love.. it's a miracle :) If you have three minutes take a look at these beauties. Happy 'adopt a bonsai' Tuesday, take care...

  9. Up here in the mountains, I made it a point to get flowers every week...when the winter sets in and all you see is snow, a bit of color in the house really is a pick me up!!! Love when Spring starts down in SoCal...I've missed the Spring and am excited to get to experience it again!!!

  11. Last time I saw a bonsai seller was on a deserted industrial street in downtown Los Angeles. It was after hours and he was selling them out of the back of a late model station wagon. I found the whole thing ironic - and amusing.

  16. There must have been many hours spent keeping those bonsai trees small. A real art of the green thumb.

  17. I never liked the bonsai plants. Never something happens, they just stand there for ages without any changes. A plant must grow or have flowers so now and than in my opinion. But glad you enjoy your Bonsai, so don't mind my opinion.:)

  20. Beautiful! Aww, last time we were at the Wanneroo Markets was 2006, Grace! I bought an "Aussie"-t-shirt and when I wore it people gave me huge smiles. One lady even grabbed my arm and said, "awww, sweety, nice t-shirt", I´ll never forget that! :-) Thanks for the memory!

  21. Wow, wow, ... "Bonsai"!
In Japan, 'Bonsai' (making and maintaining the trees) is a popular hobby.
I enthused that hobby, but lost my small-containers by some happenings. (I'm sad ... now.)
Please take care your small-containers (pots or plates, = your trees) with love.
    Good luck!!!
