Heritage gallery space...
Do you ever.. just as you are leaving a venue, turn for a last look and think wow! Especially in art galleries where the primary reason for being there is the art not the 'space'. I knew as soon as I looked down the lens that I'd love the light and shadows in this shot. Built in 1910 the heritage listed Old Perth Technical School on St.Georges Terrace is home to Linton & Kay Galleries one of the most elegant yet modern galleries in the city.. the predominantly contemporary paintings and sculptures are displayed perfectly in these beautifully restored rooms with their high ceilings. A definite addition to the 'to visit list' when you come to Perth oui :) Happy Tuesday, take care..

Nice art gallery Grace, the building is beautiful, but I'd never been inside.
ReplyDeleteNot only is it a beautiful space but, the art looks so interesting to me. I made a museum visit this last weekend too and yes, I did do a stop to look back even thought I've been there many times before. There are just some places that have it all put together perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful space, Grace. And a lovely doorway too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to repurpose a school! You're right about this room - the lighting is magnificent and it is warm and welcoming!
ReplyDeleteA very nice space and use of space.
ReplyDeleteThat floor has been pollished very good!
ReplyDeleteThat's a huge wow coming from here. I'm wondering if I'll ever make it to Perth though. How long is the trip from CDG (Paris Charles de Gaulle)? ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous space! I love the flooring especially! :)
ReplyDeleteI normally don't care for modern art, but I love the colors in those paintings!
ReplyDeleteI've had this feeling many times! I love the colours in the first photo and the light too. Lovely images! - Tasha xxx

Wonderful space and artwork Grace, thank you! I love the shapes created by the shadows! Our weather has been wonderful past few days and it's been delightful to see shadows on walls formed by the warm sunshine peeping in through blinds. Joy x
ReplyDeleteThis was a "look behind you moment" Grace. Perfect timing for perfect natural light.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous space, Grace!
ReplyDeleteWonderful light and a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteThe light and shadow toying with the patination and grain in the polished timber floor is wonderful Grace. A moment seen and then gone shortly after. I'm glad you turned around. I think it's one of those things we learn as daily photobloggers. Look ahead, side to side, up and down and the turn around. Never miss an opportunity.
ReplyDeleteThe building is better than the, er, art!
ReplyDeleteThe light is indeed good.
What a lovely gallery.
ReplyDeleteI will have to add THIS beautiful place on my wish-list..... just in case I one day will be in Perth.
ReplyDeleteThe light and shadow add extra beauty to the wonderful image you composed.

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you thought to look back and take a photo before leaving. It is a beautiful space indeed.
ReplyDeleteAfter I emptied my classroom on June 20th, I did just this. "What? What is this moisture running from my eyes..."
