Still in the city, 905 Hay Street, Dynon Plaza. I was drawn by the series of beautifully crafted sculptures by English born artist Andrew Kay who casts his bronze sculptures in his own foundry. Reading Andrew's profile gave me a clearer idea of how his surroundings near the coast and native forests influence his art, I like it very much anyway but understanding his motivation is all the more enlightening. These ten whimsical sculptures were designed as a temporary exhibit from 2006 - 2008 but as we're now in 2013 and they're still there I'm guessing that this has become a permanent deal. I'm very much missing my little feline friend, they've moved :( so I was particularly drawn to the pussy cat watching the sardines leaping out of the tin, how cool is that! Hope your week has started well, happy Tuesday, take care.....

I love that sweet cat too - these are all lovely bronzes and even better they're being (very likely) kept on permanently! So sorry you are missing your sweet feline friend (would you ever consider getting a cat of your own:). Beautiful photoseries for Monday!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! Me, too! I love the cat! And what delightful, different bronze sculptures!! I'm glad they're still there! Sorry your kitty friend has moved!! Hope your week is off to a great start! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThese all look so interesting. I especially like the pear sculpture. It appears to be telling a story much deeper than just a piece of fruit. But, that cat is pretty cute too.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, they are absolutely wonderful! I especially love the pear!
ReplyDeleteThe cat really is cute - as is the pear!
ReplyDeleteLovely installation. I love public art like this. The cat of course is too cute!

I knew you wouldn't be alone loving the kitty :). Great open spaces for displaying grand pieces of sculpture and all color coordinated too! Neat!!
ReplyDeletePublic art is such a treat and these bronzes especially so. He's very talented.
ReplyDeleteThe cat does the trick for me... but I'm biased in favour of kitties.
ReplyDeleteAnd it would seem you've got one commenter here who's got a profound rage issue going on....
ReplyDeleteThe sculptures look very warm and friendly.
ReplyDeleteI like these a lot, Grace - especially the pear!
ReplyDeleteThey really suit that site very nicely, Grace.

ReplyDeleteThis sculptor has a delightful imagination Grace. I also like the one with the cat the best although the one with faces peering from the flower comes a close second.
