One 'galette' too many ....

I read somewhere that one of the ways French women stay slim is by practicing the 'one day of naughty eating' must be followed by two of 'light eating'..I am definitely putting that theory to the test today! After our coffee and tart on Friday we walked across to the markets where I spotted this super  vibrant mural at the entrance to the food section of the markets, but then on continuing through I was confronted by La Galette de France, the original of the now four outlets in Perth. I do realize that one option I had was to keep walking at a brisk pace, but..well what can I say, I'm a pastry addict, so another coffee and a croissant later I was feeling (and probably looking) a bit like the smiling Buddha below, wheeee! Perth is awash with thriving French cafes and bistros, and I feel it's my 'duty' to investigate them all..on your behalf of course! Hope your weekend is a little less 'flaky' than mine, take care.....

  1. They look delicious:) I love French coffee shops. I thought the secret to staying thin was smoking 2 packs of cigarettes everyday:)

  2. Oh, what a yummy start for my day, Grace!! And, I'm sure it will be a naughty start now!! Where's my coat?? I'm headed for the door! Whatever I find won't be this good, but better than anything I have in the kitchen right now! Hope you're enjoying a fun and tasty weekend!!

  3. It is a vibrant muriel!
And thanks for the slimming tip. All I need is a Fruitcake sized Buddha to stick at the front of my fridge. If it's heavy enough I won't be able to get the door open.

  4. It's hared to find a really good croissant here in Phoenix so when I do find one it's hard to resist. It sounds like you have a few good places to indulge. Have a wonderful Sunday!

  7. Thriving French cafes in Perth you say? I am so glad I don't have that temptation nearby! I would be testing them all out too - just to ensure that the cafes were authentically French of course! Wonderful atmosphere in the second photo and adore that cheery, laughing buddha in the last one!

  15. I've never believed that Buddha weighed that much. He had a "light day" every day.

  16. Oh, so that's what I've been doing wrong--I thought it was two days of naughty eating and one day of light eating!

I saw a Buddha like that in a Chinese restaurant here. I was with a friend who was shocked to discover that Buddha looked just like her brother!

  21. You are so funny, but I'm sure that I speak for most bloggers when I express thanks for your commitment to pastry excellence. You probably should keep a diary about your experiences and your weight gain.

Do you ever wonder how those fat Buddhas can be laughing when they're so overweight? And did you ever wonder why they can't get clothes to fit? I mean, c'mon, they have clothes for fat people these days! Sheesh!
