An adventurous sort.....!

So how is 2013 going for you so far? I hope that you had a good New Year, I'm still wondering what happened to 2012, it zipped by way too quickly! It's been a wee bit hot (understatement of the year so far!) to go out and about these last few day, these shots are from two weeks ago, taken on .....yes you guessed it, St. George's Terrace! This three dimensional larger than life bronze sculpture of three men (one would have been an Aboriginal tracker) on horseback led by explorer Alexander Forrest , heading out from this exact spot on one of many exploration trips during the intense development of Perth in the late 1800's, is a favourite, and sits at the main entrance to The Forrest Centre , named in his honour. The shot below is to put it in perspective size and location wise, once again no mention of the sculptor, but it's way too hot to even think about expending energy getting annoyed haha! Happy first Wednesday of 2013, take care and stay safe.....

  2. We will open the book, its pages are blank, write words about ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.
freedom we give up our dreams and we dress in radiant reality.
Great sculpture and a lot of history behind it.
    Hugs and kisses.

  4. Great sculpture! And, yes, the year is very young and we have time -- although it does fly -- to discover more wonderful things! Have a great new year, Grace, enjoy and stay safe!!

  5. A beautiful sculpture with a fascinating historical significance. We spent the late morning watching the Rose Parade from Pasadena. It was the best ever! Between my 10th and 14th year we lived in Los Angeles. We had friends who lived a few blocks from the parade route in Pasadena and they would get out there in the middle of the night to save us a place. We did that a couple of years. It was wonderful! That was a long time ago - over 60 years (psst - don't tell anyone!).

Usually I tell people to stay warm this time of year, but for you I'll say "Be as cool as you are!"

  12. New Year's Day was cold here, but not terribly so. Ee went to an exhibit at the art museum we'd been meaning to get to, then down to the riverfront to shoot the people who always water ski in the Mississippi on this day. Then a nap. Back into the wind tunnel at work tomorrow.

  16. I think we all need a couple of weeks to come to grips with yet another new year commencing with the old one having zipped by all too quickly.
The weather has been all over the place over here. One night is chilly the next chokingly hot.
