This isn't the 'culture' follow on that I mentioned yesterday, it's been one of those days and I haven't had time to Google all the links necessary for that one, you know what I'm like with my links haha! Keeping to the theme, street art is a culture all of it's own and in Subiaco, one of Perth's lovely older trendy suburbs, you know.. little art galleries, book shops, boutiques, antique shops and cafes, you can come across fabulous surprises like this quite unexpectedly! I hadn't seen the mural above by
Tricia Stedman who runs
Arty Brellas Workshops so I think it must be fairly new, I love the whole ethos of Arty Brellas and admire people who involve themselves so generously with the community. Below is a glimpse into an art gallery that we passed by, some very bizarre and wonderful objet d'art ici oui! (worth while enlarging to check it out, is that young girl smoking a pipe!!!).
and around the corner a colourful 'Picasso' like display down a laneway off Rockeby road.....
On the other side of the laneway this rather scary face painted on a meter box, saved only from being totally menacing by the grinning cat sticker and 'where's Wally' down in the left hand corner, see him down there. Makes you wonder what the heck THAT was all about! I hope your Tuesday was a little less frenetic than mine, here's hoping for a tranquil Wednesday, take care and keep safe.....
Really cool! Just posted a nice graff myself for tomorrow, visible in about 6 hours
ReplyDeleteAh, the things you find in a big city! - I thought the first photo was an actual photo, not a mural, so it is done very well. That gallery is a real bric-a-brac shop!
ReplyDeleteHi Paul
DeleteThanks so much - was lovely to read your comments ...I am the artist who painted the mural of the local children with their Arty Brellas. Arty Brellas was a little inspiration that come to me about 5 years ago...I notice that you are from the sunshine Coast ...I love that area and have some dear friends living there....near Mapleton...you have some interesting photos on your blog...love the nautical theme....great stuff...thanks trillions for your positive words....Cheers Tricia
These are great! Like Paul, I also thought the first photo was an actual photo, not a mural! I hope your day calms down - midweeks always feel hectic :)

ReplyDeleteBunt macht einfach gute Laune, wir brauchen mehr davon in unserer Welt aus grauem Beton...

I like this first pic, so colorful and joyful!
ReplyDeleteI also like discovering workshops, to see where artists create, it's always so interesting!
Strange yet nice art. I like when they paint these pieces on sides of buildings.
ReplyDeleteBlogging should have a piece of writing all of its own. Links, research, fact checking.....and it may be only 2 words:) I get it:)
After I'm done reading today, I'm going to shut this computer off and get things done around the house like cleaning the bathroom, car, and maybe do a little work outside:) Hope it's relaxing:)
Wow - fabulous stuff, Grace!
ReplyDeleteA very colorful community; I think I'd like it!

Marvellous colours and designs.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. The people are Aussie but the colors and, to some extent, the overall design look very Latin American to me.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe brellas are colorfully fun and are a great subject for a mural. That last shot is spooky and just a bit disconcerting...
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
Such vibrant photographs Grace. Love the 'brellas.
ReplyDeleteColorful and fun!
ReplyDeleteLove your images and your posting!

ReplyDeleteI want an arty brella! what fun. and maybe its a bubble pipe she's got not a smoking pipe .. maybe ..
ReplyDeleteThere's a Subiaco also in Rome! Lovely arts! Arianna
ReplyDeleteMy kind of place. Great street art! I just love the top mural, it's fabulous and the photo deserves being enlarged.
ReplyDeleteIt will be a bubble pipe for the young girl. My mother had a similar ornament, which I believe was the "Pear's Girl". Pear's soap used the image as an advertisement. Never seen another until your photo!
ReplyDeleteso lively and colourful!
