Spotted as we were leaving
the Perth Zoo yesterday morning after our four monthly fossick around the
Leederville Camera Market (purchases: two new portrait filters and a necklace made from an old film spool for Aimee, total spent $20.. lusted after IF I had a spare $600, a limited edition white Pentax with matching white lens!). If you check out the map below you'll see that just as you enter the zoo on the right hand side there is a lake where we spotted this group of six pelicans, I googled and discovered a group of Pelicans were called..a 'squadron', would six Pelicans constitute a 'squadron' I wonder! I like the way Pelicans seem to always keep an 'eye out' even when they're tucked in. Hope you had a good weekend, happy Monday.....
Pelikane sind so gemütliche Vögel, kann man immer gut zuschauen...

How do I adopt a lion??? Got a cat who things he is a lion, but as he is small, nobody really cares. Now a lion, that would be something else. Specially in our 2 bedroom flat. The neighbors might be against.
ReplyDeleteCool picture Grace. Pelicans are fun.
ReplyDeletehaha, the pelican up the front? the first one? he looks like a flasher!!! lol :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun shot. Bet it was noisy.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth :)

Terrific shots and I love the pelicans!! I do love zoos and being able to spend time there. It's not that I like to see all the animals in cages, but I do realize that it's necessary in order to save so many species! The camera market sounds wonderful! I'd love to spend some time there, too!!
ReplyDeletePelicans are so much fun to watch - great shots of them! Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteThe white Pentax sounds like something I would like to own.
ReplyDeleteWas only a few weeks ago that I met a Pelican on a Greek island. And yes, am currently saving for two years to get me a new camera...Please have a good new week ahead.
ReplyDeletesympathique cette reunion de pelican ;)
ReplyDeleteNice shot,love those reflections
ReplyDeleteWinter looks so good in Perth. I cannot imagine visiting a zoo in winter in Toronto.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pelicans! I've never seen that special variety before. Oh Monday comes so quickly:) Hope you had a good weekend:)
ReplyDeleteThe pelicans are so perfectly arranged that they look like an artist's sculpture! Congrats on your purchases!
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
These are such wonderful shots! I love that you caught them in slightly different positions, from wings spread to full squat. Haha, squadron is just brilliant, who would've thought!
ReplyDelete(Love your comment about being glad to not live 100 years ago - can you imagine?! :)
Squadron members must be ever vigilant. A nap is no excuse.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. Didn´t know either that a group of pelicans was a squadron, so I learned a new thing too!
ReplyDeleteA squadron! How cool. much nicer than a 'murder' of crows!

Great pics Grace - honestly they appear as though they are posing for you. A "squadron" no less! Oh I wish I had gotten to the Perth Zoo :(
ReplyDeleteGreat photo Grace. Nice and crisp. Looks like we have both had a fascination for Pelicans lately. Love the collective name "squadron".. So apt.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great spot Grace. Love it. That four monthly visit to Camera House sounds like it could end up being expensive.
ReplyDeleteThe camera market would be where i would be headed
ReplyDeleteoh camera store shopping .. and pelicans! lovely
ReplyDeleteNo matter what species, I love pelicans! Great shots, Grace.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for increasing the use of the letter 'q' so of course 'squadron' is the correct term! Apologies for the infrequency of my comments to date - Google reader has a lot to answer for, but it's a godsend to travellers with limited internet access ...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
PS How are my 'RED' photos coming along??!!
