Ode to the thong...

Let’s talk about the Icons that are worshiped by us Aussies.
Akubra hats, the Opera House, meat pies, Speedo Cossies.
Some would say our Icon is that famous waltzing song,
I reckon that it’s something else. I reckon it’s the thong!
Part of a poem by Col Wilson aka 'Blue the shearer', you can read the rest of the poem here.

It's true, when the temperature soars in summer, 35C today, airing les pieds thus keeping the body temperature down is essential and although I don't have a problem with le thong.....

.... they're definitely not as chic as these lovelies below, oh la fabulous! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe.. p.s. sorry I haven't been around the last couple of days, wearing thongs is unfortunately not a migraine preventative :)

  1. Yep, definitely more thongs in Perth than there are here north of Toronto at the moment! Hope you get rid of that nasty migraine!

  2. Get your rest! I always wonder with those... no protection at all for the toes.

  3. At first I thought you were talking about a different kind of thong entirely. I'm glad you are talking about the kind that I can actually wear. This kind of thong is quite prevalent in my city too. They are everywhere. I love all the leggy photos.

  4. Yep, Grace, yay for thongs - I have to admit, though, I love my German thongs, so comphy!
    Hmm, pies....
Maybe really give acupuncture a go against the migraine? I´m free since about 20 years!

  5. Oh, yes! I have to agree with EG, those thongs would definitely not be popular in Oregon right now!!! It's so WET and CHILL!!! Such a fun post to start my day and some great looking legs!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Grace!! Enjoy!!

  9. Thong ... a word I always feel is surprisingly difficult to say! It's only recently I started wearing them; I don't like the rubbery ones that make a 'slap, slap' sound. I have some Birkenstocks and they are very comfy. But as Steffe says, it really isn't thong weather up North!

  11. I was out today in the snow wearing my Blundstones, Grace, but would rather be in a pair of those thongs!

  13. I will definitely take the shoes in that last shot over the thongs. Here we call them flip flops. For a minute I was expecting to see thong style bathing suit bottoms...hehehe. I am laughing ay myself. Love all the shots of the airing feet :-)

  15. Great shots - can't wear Thongs myself. Don't like the sound of another migraine, take care stay, safe - inside.

  16. It's a worldwide phenomenon but they just don't work on my arthritic feet. Hey, there are always Reef Walkers.

What's with the Norwegian flag swimsuit In W.A.?

  17. Here in Florida, we call them flip flops and people wear them year round, even if it's chilly. Not me though, I have a tendency to trip when I wear them! I hope your migraine gets better.

  18. My feet were not made for thongs Grace.

  19. Not very suitable for muddy footpaths or the frost we have this morning.

  20. We always called these shoes thongs when I was young... now a thong means something else to me and these are flip flops (or as Germans say, shower shoes). Whatever you call them, I love them and can't wait for the season to be back! ;-)

  21. I didn't know the word "thong", I thought they were called flip flops, we call them "teenslippers" (toe slippers). They are excellent for warm days, but I hate something between my toes, so I don't wear them.

  22. Jeez, Gracie, I raced to your post when I read that you were featuring thongs today. You mean THOSE thongs (which we call flip flops where I come from). We also have another name for shoes with very high and thin heels, too, but this is a G-rated blog. (Hope you get over that nasty migraine soon, Gracie.)

  23. Jack made me laugh. I must be a bit of a parisienne because unless it's at the beach or swimming pool, I don't really like them much :-)

  24. I'd wear them all the time, if I could; unfortunately, it gets cold here....
