Yesterday (Sunday) 7,000 people in Perth joined in a national rally, 350 community groups joining Aboriginal elders and
religious leaders to send a message to the world leaders in Paris for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, the aim being 'to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate from all nations in the world' You may have heard that here in WA there have already been lives lost in the bush fires in Esperance. Quote from the WA president of the United Firefighters Union, "There are no sceptics of climate change when you are behind a hose". Was there a rally in your city/town yesterday/today? Happy Monday, take care and stay safe.. p.s. what are the chances of the nations of world agreeing on anything.. seriously! p.p.s. late night, catch up today!
Great! There's no planet B... at all!
ReplyDeleteThe vast majority of people want reform... but it's only when the corporations support it, or least stop blocking it, will reforms actually happen. Sorta like gun control in the US.
ReplyDeleteSadly, Stuart and Jose are right!!! It would be great if the corporations would support reform instead of blocking it!!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! And yes, no Planet B. How did climate change get to be a political football? Because the people exploiting the earth's resources don't want to give up their disastrous actions which bring such great rewards. And no, the right and powerful still own too many of the world's leaders for there to be a binding agreement among all nations.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a great turn out! Good onya, Perth people!
ReplyDeleteThere is lots of media attention for it here as well. Will it help? We hope so :)
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be done a lot before we can accept the fact that the climate is changing. I think we can all see it, and don't need politicians to tell us.

Ours was last Friday night with a crowd estimated at 60,000.
ReplyDeleteWhat no planet B? Tell that to those stupid Republicans.
ReplyDeleteWe only get one planet. Nowhere to go if we trash this one!
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, Grace. Finding universal agreement will be most difficult.
ReplyDeleteThat second pictures great Grace, there was a big rally in London but worldwide I'm afraid it's going to be a very uphill struggle...
ReplyDeleteI do agree with Stuart and Jose.....
ReplyDeleteThank you Grace. I just spread #noplanetB through my networks!

ReplyDeleteColourfully bright images!! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteHow great would it be if a global approach was possible.
ReplyDeleteGreat crowd! Super colorful. I am with Joe.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the event drew a huge crowd. That's a good thing. I don't know of any events taking place here. As far as an agreement is concerned I'm afraid I'm a bit cynical on that one.
ReplyDeleteit's scary what we are doing to our planet :(
ReplyDeleteWow, a huge crowd! Great on you for joining in Grace. I do hope that all participating leaders agree on an action plan!
ReplyDeleteYes, "there is no planet B".... Good on you to join, Grace - here was no such thing.
