Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe.
Get it done by half past two.
Half past two is much too late!
Get it done by half past eight.
Get it done by half past two.

In the window of 'Cobbler Express' in Piccadilly Arcade sits a cobbler whose hammer, although you can't see it here, never stops in the attempt to 'get it done'! In the brightly lit shop filled with many manly things, such as silver mugs, hip flasks, belts and key rings, some not quite so manly, I love that this wee cobbler is embracing his feminine side :) It is officially the 1st day of summer here in Australia.. let the sweltering begin! Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..
It's no fair....
ReplyDeleteThat's cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy summer to you as you simmer.
A fun one for the day -- as always!! And thanks, as always, for a great start for my day!! I hope you have a great new week!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case then it should be the first day of winter here; it certainly feels like it and that cobbler would need his scarf over here.
ReplyDeleteWhimsical! Thanks for a fun start to the week/month, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThe wee cobbler's a cute addition. We do have shops like this here.
ReplyDeleteThat little cobbler needs to take off the neck scarf now that summer has arrived. We have shops like this here too but, they are called shoemaker shops. I love your peek through the shop window! Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteFascinating take on the theme. I don't think I've seen a cobbler's place of business in 15 years. Times have really changed when it comes to footwear.
ReplyDeleteHa! We're "sweltering" here, too, Grace. Rain and 40F (4C). :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is a cute rhyme and I had completely forgotten about it.
ReplyDeleteLooks well wrapped up for the start of summer. Love his flat cap, must be a Yorkshireman!
ReplyDeleteI like his funny scarf!
ReplyDeleteWe have similar in London Grace and as Halcyon spotted that a pretty fancy scarf...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post on this meme!

Gosh! Didn't know this was here in Perth. I wonder does it smell of leather, I would spent time in an old cobblers place when I was very young & can still remember the smell. Keep happy, safe & take care 9a few warm days on the way.
ReplyDeleteDon't know how that 9 got in the last post!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst I have my coffee then I mend my shoes. This cobbler has been mending shoes for a long time I think Grace.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness there hasn't (yet) been a machine that can the place of a good cobbler. Nice theme day shot!
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to say "cobblers" but that wouldn't be very polite would it? It's a nice display Grace and would tempt me in.
ReplyDeleteA funny and unusual choice!
ReplyDeleteA funny image. December 1, first day of the summer, don't mentione that please....We are looking to dark skies all the time.
ReplyDeleteCool interpretation of the theme! I hope your summer isn't too awfully hot!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely bright shop window, very cute!
ReplyDeletewhat a cute display! i need that little cobbler, i have a boot that the sole has separated :( keep cool!!
ReplyDeleteI have an Amish friend who is a cobbler, nice to have old comfortable shoes rebuilt.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it´s a female cobbler?
ReplyDeleteI´ve seen a documentary on a cobbler-girl making quality shoes in Great Britain.
Happy summer-time, Grace:-) 8C here.
Ha, interesting and funny choice for the theme, Grace !
ReplyDeleteA very special window. I like it .
ReplyDeleteI love this window display. Seems like shoe repairing has become somewhat of a lost art nowadays. Most people just throw them away and buy new ones!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really original idea for this theme day!
ReplyDeleteBrillo Grace! I'm so glad there are still cobblers around!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting window Grace. Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteIt is remarkable that shops like this still exist, isn't it?
ReplyDeletegood choice for the theme ! :)
ReplyDeleteSuper display. I went into our local shop only yesterday but it wasn't as interesting as yours.
ReplyDeleteThe bright pink scarf stands out amidst all those lovely yellow tones. A great display.
