Both shots taken after breakfast in Northbridge yesterday. I was happy to come across Mary Poppins minus the rifle below, je préfère MP portrayed as above with flowers and bird.. there's no way you'd catch 'Miss practically perfect in every way' flying over the rooftops totin' a rifle :) Both created by talented artist JXD, whose unpredictable stencils pop up all over town. Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
"Why, it's the most disgraceful sight I've ever seen, or my name isn't Mary Poppins"..
The one with the rifle is a bit different.
ReplyDeleteAh, different indeed!!! Don't mess with Mary Poppins -- not these days!!! Thanks as always for a great start for my day, Grace!! I do hope you have a beautiful new week!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, no rifles for Mary! The top one is more like it.
ReplyDeleteSupercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
ReplyDeleteActually she carries a spy umbrella that functions as a sword, rife, or little old ladies umbrella club. Just teasing. I cannot understand why any one would want to draw Marry Poppins with any kind of a weapon even if an umbrella could be used to hit someone.
The second one was while she was touring the States.
ReplyDeleteI like the second one best but not so keen on the gun.
ReplyDeleteI like the one who's armed!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first one!
ReplyDeleteAh, Mary Poppins, a simpler time, perhaps, when she was active back in the 60s, but we had Vietnam going on and the Cold War, so that wasn't good either. When did we decide that guns were somehow good, when they are made expressly for the purpose of killing other people (not counting the hunters, of course, although who the hell needs to hunt these days - it's not like the supermarkets are running out of food?)
ReplyDeleteMary Poppins avec son fusil, aurait été la bienvenue à Paris pour protéger tous ces jeunes tués par les djihadistes :(

ReplyDeleteI vote for the birdie! Tweet!!
ReplyDeleteBig smile, big love. I think I know all the songs by heart, still...
ReplyDeleteI like the first one Grace...
ReplyDeleteWell, these days, maybe even Mary feels the need to pack some heat.
ReplyDeleteStill protecting her charges, mon ami!

Well, I'm not so sure. If it is to scale that hummingbird is monstrously large.
ReplyDeleteThe second Mary is just not for me.
ReplyDeleteA sad state of affairs when one think Mary Poppins must carry a gun.
ReplyDeleteUnforgettable Mary Poppins, nice post!
ReplyDeleteClassic woman, which everybody has to like...also I do.
ReplyDeleteI love these figures.
Artistically I like the second one but hate that she has a gun. Pity to spoil a childhood favourite with adult violence.
ReplyDeleteI like the first shot, Grace !
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite movies ever! You can't hear the songs and NOT smile. Too bad someone showed her with a gun, but we know how she really is. :)
ReplyDeleteThe first image is delightful and a wonderful find. The second one...not my sort of art.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first one, have seen to much rifles this weekend.....
ReplyDeleteAgree totally Grace. The flowers are much more appropriate.
ReplyDeleteLove the first one. The second image is strange and disturbing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Lea
Mary Poppins with a rifle? Thanks NRA!
ReplyDeletei love mary poppins too! sad to see that she has to resort to carrying a gun now-a-days :(
ReplyDeleteFor sure that's NOT Mary Poppins. Beware the imposters!!
ReplyDeleteLove especially the first one, Grace :-)
ReplyDeleteThe gun, though... kinda weird. Or sad.
This is so nice and unexpected!
ReplyDeleteNice to see one of Mary Poppins.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the rifle does look 'not quite right in her hand.' :) I wonder what the artist is trying to say.
Great find. :)
Such nice murals - both are great!
ReplyDeleteHave a Great Week!!
Peace :)
Wonderfully conceived reflecting the present scenario...
ReplyDeleteCouldn't imagine Mary Poppins with a riffle...
ReplyDeleteApparently the sick, twisted side of my personality still responds to Mary Poppins flying around packing heat. The hummingbird is sweet but the automatic weapon still has me laughing. Not that I'm a fan of arms, but the contrast is too funny. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteMary Poppins- my childhood heroine. Nowadays equipped with a gun? Ok - maybe she makes a start in dumping all weapons into the oceans .
ReplyDeleteI love both images.
Oh me too, always have and always will. I sure enjoy the newer versions of a Mary Poppins cousin if you will, good old Nanny McPhee!
