They call it mellow yelo..quite rightly.....

Was this the universe sending me a message or what! Aimee and I pass Yelo every time we walk down the coast road, it's always packed with walkers, cyclists and beach goers in need of a coffee after their energetic pursuits and I've often thought about stopping but never have! Until yesterday. I was driving along the coast with a friend when Mellow Yellow (I dare you!) came on the radio, I took it as a sign, you would've too right! I wasn't disappointed. A super casual relaxed atmosphere, the coffee was excellent and what about that view, the Indian Ocean crashing onto the beach directly across the road, nice.....!
Said beach across the road being 'dog friendly', our canine friends are more than welcome in Yelo. Milo was 'rescued' fourteen years when he was two and no one wanted him, how is that possible, look at that sweet face! He's a wee bit old and 'achy' now his owner told us but still goes for a walk everyday on the beach..after a bad start I think Milo's life took a definite upswing! It was a mega hectic day, catch up tomorrow.  Happy middle of the week, take care. P.s Happy Waitangi Day if there are any New Zealanders looking in.....

  1. What a cute story about Milo and yes, that song sure was a sign :-)
Cool website and now I´m hungry, too - craving for a pie, which is not available over here unless you cook/bake it yourself and we never managed the "right thing"...

  9. So glad you were compelled to stop for a coffee. Great spot and so does remind me of places I have visited in Torquay, Victoria :). Great how the Aussie's (and everyone else) look after their four-legged friends.

  11. Dare all you like. I am not going there. Perth seems to have rather a lot of cool looking cafes.

I like a lot these pictures, the friendly energy of this place, so nice to see people enjoying the beautiful view of the sea, talking with friends, maybe a pause after enjoy a bike trip... I also like the colorful paintings at the wall.

  24. This is exactly what I like to do right now: Sitting at a coffee bar somewhere in the middle of ??? at the coast, a cup of (lactose-free) latte macchiato in my hands, and just watching the waves rolling to and fro...
In lieu thereof I`m sitting at my office desk, watching the snowfall outside the window, trying to create a new presentation and waiting for lunch... ;-)
Thanks for your kind comment on my latest post,
    Uwe.
