Marvelous Macropodes....!

Ok I agree, not quite as spectacular as yesterdays shots but much easier to execute! One of the things that visitors to Australia love to see are the kangaroos, here in Perth there's no need to go to the zoo to see these marvelous marsupials, one of the many spots where you are guaranteed to see a mob of  'macropods', and if you're lucky espy a 'bit of a biff' (I was mega excited the first time I saw boxing kangaroos) is Pinnaroo Memorial Park, I've shown you them here before, but not with an appreciative audience. I found this super short video on youtube taken by a group of American, or maybe Canadian tourists (can anyone recognize which!) who had a fab experience on a visit here. Aimee and I see this sight often on our walk, but I know how unique an experience it would be for travelers from over the sea. Hope that your week is going well, happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe.....

  1. Are you kiddin' me?! This American would be absolutely captivated to see such a scene at a park. Yet another reason why I need to visit Perth. How many kangaroos were there that day? Very cool! I suppose they're as common as seeing deer here. But, heck, I never get tired of seeing deer. Thanks for the fabulous pics.

  2. Oh, how I would love to be there and see a sight like this!!! How FUN!! And, yes, I too am captivated!! Thanks for sharing these, Grace!! Terrific! And what a great smile to start my day with!!!

  3. They're everywhere Grace!!! I'd be scared that I'd get caught in the crossfire:)

  4. Wow! I can't imagine seeing that many of anything in a park here except maybe sparrows.

  5. That is brilliant. I was so excited when I saw my first group of kangaroos at a golf course in Anglesea. They followed us around while were playing...obviously they were in awe of our good play or entertained :). Super shot. (Guess you don't need to give them an apple :).

  6. Ooh, count me among those (possibly North-Midwestern American or Canadian:) visitors in the video - I'd be so excited to see this! Kangaroos are pretty thin on the ground in North American, haha, These are amazing shots!

  7. Macropod? Sounds somehow fancier than big foot! (Helps when you speak Greek). Yep, I would spend a lot of time in a park like this one, with my boxing gloves...

  8. Great shots! I saw these guys on the news running around on a golf course!

  9. The video is great! I love your photos, they are so tall!!!

  10. Oh, I'd like so much to see that once! Do kangaroos care of people? they're not afraid? they don't attack? can you approach, or even caress them?can you feed them?

    ReplyDelete
  11. As Malyss asks, they don't run away? (people are close to them in the photos) Don't attack people? Very few animals in the US that would be like that. We have a herd of burros up at Red Rock park that stick their noses in car windows begging for treats, but that's about it.

  12. Have a look at the size of old man 'roo in the first photo.

  13. I'm afraid I'd be one of those gawking American tourists with camera to eye!!! Love your shots of the boxing 'Roos!!! I'd love to see that up close and personal! That's one animal I don't think I've ever seen!!! (Can't remember seeing a kangaroo in the zoo either...but then...it's been a long time since I've been to the zoo!!!)

  14. I'd love to see them like that. Give them their space, mind you, like you do with any wild animal. Great shots, Grace!

  16. Special that you can come so close to the kangaroos, but I don't like the boxing matches because I normaly don't carry my gloves in the park. :-)

  17. They just look so exotic to those of us not from Oz! I can't believe how many of them there are. I assume that this must be a dog free park? Otherwise I suspect that it could be chaos.

    ReplyDelete
  18. thanks for always sharing the uniqueness of OZ, and your own. This is especially true today. No place but OZ. You rock - yet make it look easy. So happy to be one of your regulars

'Macro podes' - from Greek meaning 'Large Feet'.

    Please have a good Wednesday.

  21. What great fun that would be. Sometimes here we see a couple of squirrels fighting over a nut. Or a couple of nuts fighting over a girl or a boy or something else!

Super shots! I did see where the Australian Open golf tournament was delayed a bit because of Roos walking on the course...

  22. Grace, this is so cool! I would love to see them up close--but your photos are the next best thing!

  24. Now that's what I call Kangaroos. So many in one spot. I wouldn't be getting too close to any of these.

Impressive and very special park there, lucky people to have the opportunity to be so close to these gorgeous critters!
Thanks so much for this post dear Grace, your pictures are wonderful!

  28. You might not think it's spectacular but for someone like me that that as never seen kangaroos in their natural state. PS: Ask the tourist to spell colour or harbour. The Americans will spell it without the u.

Hope you understand. My english is not enought better to whrite all this in english. On top of that, I might be a bit leasy.
