Welcome to winter.....

They did say it was going to be a 'batten down the hatches' kind of day in Perth yesterday, and as 'hit and miss' as the weather reports can sometimes be, they were spot on. Looking up the coastline from Trigg Point to Sorrento Quay the wind and waves were lashing against the beach, not a day for walking..even the seagulls and cormorants were having a hard time clinging onto their island refuge. Looking forward to enjoying some warmth and sunshine vicariously through images from the Northern Hemisphere. Happy Monday, take care.....

  1. Your photos capture well the blustery wet weather. It's so interesting that weather can change so fast. I recall just yesterday you were telling us how very hot it was in Perth! :-) One thing about Florida, if you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it will change!

  2. Well... Here, the summer really kicked in today, it was really hot. Beach day, of course. The next winter will come soon enough, even here.

  3. Oh, WOW! It does look wet and blustery and what terrific captures! I can almost hear the wind and feel the rain -- of course, it may have been blowing through the crack in my window! Hope you have a great week! Stay warm and dry!

  4. THAT looks cold!! May need to come stick my head in those waves to cool off a bit until summertime is over here in the Northern Hemi.

  5. Since we have had an abundance of rain in the past 48 hours, measured in feet rather than inches, this scene looks familiar. However, it is much warmer here!

  6. Well, they forecast some pretty dire weather for us this weekend but they got it all wrong. So I'll have some colourful and uplifting posts for you this week. Love those wintry seascapes though.

  9. Hi, you may not be able to live vicariously through any pics taken in the UK at present :( In fact, you'd have buckley's...lol.
I have recently been wondering if it's cooler here at the moment...about 11-12C over the past few days.

    Love your blog....thanks x

  10. We have plenty of warmth (i.e. heat) here in the desert. I'll see what I can do about featuring some for you.

  12. It feels a bit cold this one. We are expecting some serious sunshine for Monday, but not very warm, something like 18C.

  13. Yep, that about sums it for us down here in chilly Melbourne :-).

  16. That looks bad! My brother and sister-in-law are coming to Sydney in the last part of July, what kind of weather will they have?

  17. While nobody really enjoys bad weather, it does make a great photographic subject! Great pics.

  18. Am close of a post called summer ;) Above 30 during midday. Miss autumn. A wonderful first picture indeed. Please have a good new week.

  19. Hahaha! But doesn't it suck that the weather forecasters seem to only get it absolutely correct when there's crap weather coming?!?!

Heading north for winter seems like such a good idea, no?

  20. I don't have much experience of wintry seas, but it sure looks like winter to me.

  21. Americans are so isolated. We find it hard to understand the words "winter" and "Australia" in the same sentence. Well, maybe in Tasmania, but then I bet 90% of my countrymen have no idea where the island is.

  22. B&W an excellent choice for these photos.

  26. But a gorgeous photo.

Don't plan a trip to Paris in the coming days. You might find yourself in winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

  27. Powerful images, the use of B&W adds drama and the sense you gave it with your words, love it, despite the weather! Saludos

  28. Bienvenue à l'hiver???... Heu... Gracie, en toute honnêteté, je préfère l'été qui arrive ici!... :-)

  29. Looks very good in black and white. Stay safe Grace, though you are more likely to see flood photos from the UK's late spring at the moment- though yesterday was wonderully sunny here in the north-west UK.

  30. What a dramatic looking shot! It does look cold and forbidding - well done! Better for me to view it through your eyes...I do NOT like winter! Fortunately, I live in a very temperate zone of the US, so our winters are blessedly short! Have a safe, warm evening, Grace!

  34. It's so hard to think of winter when summer is just starting here. Hope it doesn't get too cold! Just keep inside and you should be ok. ;)

  35. I would gladly give you some of the humidity ... we've lots

    ReplyDelete
  36. Despite it being supposedly summer here we've got the same weather as you right now!

  37. Very moody!
No sunshine scenes here at the moment.... all this rain, it feels like October!
For some sunny blue skies though, you can scroll through my Croatian pics :-)
