Back in the city.....

In complete contrast to our day in the country on Sunday, where the sun was shining and the birds were singing lalala! back here in the city Monday was grey and overcast (to be fair it was probably the same in the country!). It was also Western Australia Day formerly known as Foundation Day and I thought it being a holiday that the city would pretty much be deserted, but not so, the parks along the river were teeming with Perthites walking, jogging, cycling, picnicking and later when we went into the city the cafes were overflowing, so good to see. These two shots were taken looking across the river to the city, if you look carefully at the shot below up in the top centre you can see that lurking behind this dense covering there's a spot of blue trying to break out! I have a feeling the tables are about to be turned and that it'll be moi admiring more of your blue skies, it's a good thing that I love winter! Have a fab day, stay safe.....

  1. Our sky looks much the same - it can make for dramatic pics though!

  2. Grumpy skies just like ours and it is pouring rain here! But I agree with Paul, yours do make for some dramatic captures! I love this perspective of Perth and I particularly like your composition in the first one. Hope your week is going well!

  3. Oh yes, it really looks like a rainy Barcelona sky! But well, rain by 27 degrees is just nice!

  6. Here is about to embark summer. Nothing but the evidence. Heaven looks like you in Perth in early winter. It is only 11 degrees. All day the wind blew strong. So I do nothing of it. Sincerely, Peter.

  8. Gorgeous captures!

Seems your Perth is to host new
US armed forces. I hope the jobs,
    community service
and additional prosperity they may bring
to your cool city outweigh the inconveniences
    of so many new residents.

    Aloha from Waikiki, Pal :-)

  14. It strikes me that your city center looks to be about the same size as ours. That river looks an awful lot wider than the Mississippi, though, and we think of that as pretty big. Is this more of an estuary?

  15. Fab skyline shots Grace. Hope that blue sky takes over. We have been inundated with rain over here with floods now threatening Gippsland.

  18. Nice images, and I normally don`t like trees who make it difficult to photograph, but this is so "soft" and nice!:)

I enjoyed your country-life images too.
