What's in a name.....

A few of my favorite signs on Market Street in Fremantle.. Firstly, very clever and very Aussie is shock & oar everything nautical that you might need to wear when you set off on the high seas in your yacht....
Or you might like to stay the night and have a wee dram in Rosie O'Grady's Irish Pub, I've heard it has 'great craic' , pronounced 'crack', meaning a fantastic time, which I'm sure I didn't need to clarify!
Princess Chambers is a suite of offices, what a lovely address to have on your business card oui!!
You can tell by the signage that this isn't any old corner store selling fruit and veg. Inside is a haven of gorgeous homewares, beautifully made although just a tad pricey.....and below we have my personal favourite, let's just say Jayne is not the only one addicted  to chocolate, a little everyday keeps a smile on my dial.....!!  Start the week off well enjoy some chocolate today.....

  2. Very good Grace...another 'what's in a name' could be the one just in the corner of the chocolate one...LJ Hooker! Have a great week.

  6. Boy, you hit the jackpot with this signage! I like them all, and I'm especially delighted to know where I can shop when I dock my yacht in your town!

  7. I love the signs - laughed out loud when I read the first one! And there were a few I would LOVE to visit - like Rosie O'Grady's for a wee bit, and Janyne's Addiction! What fun! Have a great day, Grace!

  9. I'm confused about the first sign. Shock, as in defibrillator? That looks like as ECG tracing. And the last one - that's a slightly different spelling of the name cheerless rock band from L.A. Odd.

  10. A good collection of signs, particularly Shock & Oar.

I laughed at your comment yesterday about my hat. Yesterday afternoon before I read the comment I had taken another photo of myself reflecting in a door, wearing another wide brimmed hat, this one straw. Wide brimmed hats make me feel classy, smart and manly.

  14. J'aime beaucoup ces enseignes très "anglo-saxonnes". Claires, propres, nettes. On ne voit pas ça en France. A quelques exceptions près.

  27. Thanks for the vocabulary lesson...I never would have thought 'crack' meant a good time...or maybe it does. Anyway, great sign series, Grace.

  30. I had to laugh at shock & oar .. brought to mind Bush the Stupid's name for the first attempt to rid the world of Saddam ... Shock & Awe .. which of course ended (but not really) with his arrival on an aircraft carrier with a huge sign: Mission Accomplished (of course it wasnt but then he was Bush the Stupid)
