Skyscrapers and laundry baskets.....!
Well I went out looking for a bit of fun, and I think I found it sitting looking very much out of place in the Supreme Court Gardens, trouble is I can't tell you very much about it!! I've searched Google under every combination of key words I can think of to no avail. All I can tell you is that it's a sculpture, three actually, made entirely out of what looks like plastic laundry baskets (please click to enlarge, it's too weird) all tied together with plastic snap locks. At first I thought it might be one of the visual art projects included in the Fringe World Festival but then realized that the Perth Festival is on at the same time (it's all happening in Perth!!), so if anyone from Perth is reading this and can enlighten me, feel free! I kind of liked in the first image the combination of 'laundry' baskets and big business, banking...get it , laundry, banking... nah!! that would never happen in Perth haha! I know I say this every week, but surely it can't be Friday already again!! Hope you have a great weekend.....

How interesting that is.
ReplyDeleteWell, now that is INTRIGUING!!???? Whatever it is and it's certainly colorful! Don't you sometimes wonder where people come up with ideas like this???? Terrific captures for the day! It would be fun to happen on to something like this -- as long as you have your camera in hand, of course! Hope you have a great weekend, Grace! Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteLooks interesting and colourful. I'll have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteWhatever it is , I love the colours and the impact it makes!
ReplyDeleteThis is my son's room on laundry day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique concept? Wonder what it signifies??? Very colorful though, and a marvelous find! Maybe the entire purpose was to make people wonder???? Have a great day, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThe first picture is good photojournalism. The second and especially third are just wonderful photographs. The last one looks like the mouths of hungry and bizarre anemonae under the sea. You were right - it was worth looking at the bigger size.
ReplyDeleteInteresting and very colorful!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does look out of place but colourful and interesting :-).
ReplyDeleteWhatever they are the vivid colours are stunning against the city backdrop.
ReplyDeleteYou find the the most interesting things! As a former banker, I love that banking/laundry comparison. This is just great stuff!
ReplyDeleteWell, the banks certainly need to clean up their act and modern art seems to be as much about making money as anything else.....
ReplyDeleteThe banking comments made me laugh! It is rather strange but fun, yes!
ReplyDeleteIf they call that 'art' throw a match in amongst it....
ReplyDeleteAmazing sculptures with a spectacular background, love the composition of the second one, like a perfect design!
ReplyDeleteCertainly strange, surely funny!Colors give joy!
ReplyDeleteThat is a weird kind of art, but the first photo is great!

Nothing is safe from human imagination and art. I appreciate the colors! Have a great week-end!
ReplyDeleteNice and colorful contrast! Happy weekend, Arianna
ReplyDeleteAh! So this is where the criminals in the U.S. Congress do their money laundering!
ReplyDeleteGood detective work, Grace!

ReplyDeleteI recently saw an exhibit on art from 60's/70's/80's ... part of Pacific Standard Time about postcards with 100 boots (welly's)... just bought the book (here is a good sample: https://www.google.com/search?q=100+boots&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=lMA-T6jdBcaMiALd57WyAQ&ved=0CE4QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=821#hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us%3AIE-SearchBox&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=eleanor+antin+100+boots&oq=eleanor+antin+100+boots&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=3783l6170l1l6372l10l10l0l8l8l0l171l233l1.1l2l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=ac4ea26ae49a905b&biw=1280&bih=821)

I won't call this art, but it is creative and eye catching...
ReplyDeleteWow... really!
ReplyDeleteWell seen and well done! Happy bright colors and quite a unique image!
ReplyDeleteI'll be borrowing Tash's book. I think your interpretation is excellent. They would call this a site specific installation. It relates to the site and was installed - easy smeasey. It's become a very popular devise in the art world to create the "wow" effect. Do things in multiples. Thousands of multiples. I've seen ingloos constructed from plastic bags and on and on.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Way too cool!
ReplyDeleteLove that splash of color, pattern and creativity. Splendid post, Grace!
