I read somewhere that one of the biggest mistakes photographers make is thinking that once they have taken a few shots of a subject that's it, done and dusted. When in fact if the subject is worthy it then should become a challenge to take different views of said subject :) I know I would never be able to resist taking shots of the Matagarup Bridge each time we visit, it is superbly photogenic. The shot above was through the window of the City View Cafe in Optus Stadium, next time I'll take a city view :)
The 72metre high 400metre long bridge was designed in such a way that it is climbable and the climb part of the Zip-Climb experience is up and climbing, zippers will have to wait for a few more weeks. Below the young lady getting ready to take a group up followed by the actual climb. You can see there are two viewing levels midway up the climb and then at the apex of the bridge, you can clearly see the zip lines to the foreshore in two shots below..
The design of the bridge is open to interpretation, the one I see clearly in the shot below is of two flying swans, but it could also be seen as swimming dolphins or the Wagyl, the 'Noongar manifestation of the Australian Aboriginal mythological Rainbow Serpent, a snakelike Dreaming creature responsible for the creation of the Swan River'. I like that idea also. The bridge is lit up at night by LED lights, I will definitely have to go back for that shot! You can see more fabulous shots of the bridge HERE, I hope the link works, I never can tell with this new blogger situation :) Happy weekend, take care and stay safe..
That bridge is a spectacular design.
ReplyDeleteGrace, your photos of this bridge are spectacular. I have never seen a bridge that was as much art as functional structure. You really captured the grace and beauty here. Look forward to seeing your evening shots with it lighted with LEDs.
ReplyDeleteI love the lines on the structure. Those last two shots are incredible.
ReplyDeleteA spectacular construction, Grace.
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly a magnificent structure. I can't imagine climbing it. It takes a particularly brave person to do that. Now that I've said that, I realized that my friends Julie & Dave have climbed the Sidney bridge...twice. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteWow that is one amazing looking bridge! In some shots, it reminds me of octopus legs swirling around. I've taken hundreds of photos of the same subject at different times of days, different weather conditions, etc. My husband just doesn't understand at all!
ReplyDeleteThe bridge is incredible. Reminds me of a ride in an amusement park. :)
ReplyDeleteUniquely fantastic bridge both from the engineering perspective and artistic perspective. Nothing wrong with photographing the same subject over and over; especially that bridge....now for some shots from the top.
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible bridge design and I like the climbing stairs part with their platforms halfway and at the top!
Would take a lot of strength to do this, for the healthy ones...
Hugs,
Mariette
The second last photo shows a very swan neck like curve. It is very photogenic and you've done it justice. Have you booked your bridge climb ticket?
ReplyDeleteI like these very much. As one living on a tiny Island, I have photographed diamond Head hundreds of times I'm sure. it is different every time in different light, different seasons, different times of day, different weather, I find new pictures every day on the same path I walk often of flowers shrubs and vistas I have shot many times before. We are not merely recording objects here we are creating art! Or at the least we are journeyman bloggers you and I 🎈👍
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing design.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for all the photographs which show it so well.
Happy Weekend Wishes.
All the best Jan
WOW ... That's incredible! That is a stunning piece of art.
ReplyDeleteI've made that mistake a few times and had to go back for more shots but you did well with these, I like the different angles.
ReplyDeleteIt is a spectacular design. But why should you have the urge to climb on it? It is enough to enjoy the look at it for me.
ReplyDeleteYes bridge climbing is big in Australia. Don't know one here in the netherlands but this one is a beauty and good visualised for us.
ReplyDeleteIncredible structure and it looks totally different in the many views. Keep safe Diane
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Grace, oh!!!
ReplyDeleteSee, having hectical Ingo by your side this is not possible, so THANK YOU!
I might "steal" some to hang in the condo?
I´ll make sure your name is in it, of course (darn, I hope, these automats are dumb).
Very elegant!
ReplyDeleteThat is so stunning, Grace!
