One good thing about the days getting shorter is not waking up with first light at 5.00am, sunrise is a respectable 6.30ish now :) Have just had an interesting time looking at our sunrise, sunset and day length monthly charts, interesting to see that at no time in the year, not even in the dead of winter, do we have less than 10 hours of daylight and in December, although not the hottest temperature wise, February/March win that one, the longest day is 14hrs14mins.. how does that compare with your times? Check out the chart, it might help you decide when to visit, depending if you like it hot or not :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
Lovely shot, Grace! The dog appreciates having a run.
ReplyDeleteHere we're now getting into more daylight hours with spring, but the sun's rising after seven AM and setting after seven PM. In a couple of months there'll be a lot more daylight.
This capture reminds me of a quote. When you approach something to photograph it, first be still with yourself until the object of your attention affirms your presence. Then don't leave until you have captured its essence.-Minor White Excellent capture! Friends and dog enjoying life!
ReplyDeleteI just checked our local chart and saw that sunrise is around 6:22 here right now. We are very close, just going in the opposite direction. I also noticed that our temperatures are very close to the same right now too. One exception, it's still getting cooler here at night than it is there but I'm guess that is because you are right on the ocean. We are much drier. That was fun to compare!
ReplyDelete7 hours 43 minutes in mid-winter.
ReplyDelete16 hours 46 minutes in mid-summer.
and that's down here in the southern part of England. Go up to Perth in Scotland and you'll get nearly 18 hours of daylight in summer. You wouldn't want to be there in winter!
...looking mighty fine.
ReplyDeleteWe have the sun rising around 7am and setting around 7:30pm now. I wish I was on your beach!
ReplyDeleteThat dog is a happy dog, he gets to walk the beach with his/her people.
ReplyDeleteOur times for Tues
Sunrise today 07:18
Sunset tonight 19:58
Day length 12hrs 39min
So jealous of your weather but hopefully we will start warming up very soon. It is raining here again!!!! Enjoy your weather, cheers Diane
ReplyDeleteI envy your lengthy shortened daylight. Our shortest is 8 hours, 35 minutes. Our longest day is 15 hours, 48 minutes.
ReplyDeleteLucky you!
ReplyDeleteIf I were a betting man, I'd guess that most people reading your blog would gladly trade "daylight hours" with you! I have no clue what ours is, but we do OK, considering our latitude.
ReplyDeleteBut I still don't understand why my 6th grade teacher kept saying, "I just give you too much latitude, Lowell!" And she wasn't smiling, either! :)

Oh, Grace! I just want to dive into your photo (and pet the dog). I wish our water looked like that. It's more of a deep green.
ReplyDeleteAh, the ocean, I love it, Grace!
ReplyDeleteJune 21st is the longest day here with sunrise at 04:56 and sunset 21:43, makes nearly 17 hours, I love that!
December 21st is the shortest one. Sun rises only at 08:25 and sets already at 16:07, barely 8 1/2 hours, I hate that time of the year for sure!
Right now I´m still fighting a wee bit the one hour "jetlag" and it´s still pitch dark when Ingo wakes me.
So beautiful
ReplyDeleteSo your summer is fading away I understand? Send it over to us, we are despairingly waiting for some warmth :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is June like.

You certainly accomplished your goal of getting your readers to pay attention to the features of a day: sunrise, sunset and length of day, I'm in the throes of insomnia for the past few days, knowing that I will be leaving sunshine and trading it for chilly weather when I return from México to Minnesota. Will check these features in a little while after I get some sleep time. Incidentally, Thanks for alerting me to the comment problem on my blog. Finally corrected it a short time ago, but its instructions still remain a mystery to me,
ReplyDeleteWhen I visited WA, I remember at my cousin's house in Albany it was just over 40C, so we went swimming... we got caught in a huge rainstorm, and within minutes the temperature dropped to 24C! Our daylight hours here are gradually lengthening, and we changed the clocks a couple of weeks ago (spring forward, fall back) so now I'm still confused regarding when the sun comes up!

What fun to be able to walk a dog on the beach. It is early spring here and still chilly. Our days are getting longer with sunrise at about 7:00 am.
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky to always have fabulous days!
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting Grace. I love hot weather and used to visit in Feb but the last couple of years I chose November to experience a different season. The first few days were a tad chilly early morning and evenings but it soon warmed up. However coming back in December to the very cold UK winter was purgatory, so my next visit will be February 2019! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice shot, Grace! I would like to be on that beach now !
