Colour in the absence of light...

Strolling around Sorrento Quay on a warm balmy night, the colours from the brightly lit eateries create brilliant layers of colour above, under and through the boardwalk... tricky to capture without a tripod but not impossible. Do you think it looks better as it came out the camera above or cropped to remove most of the black below? I'm leaning towards the cropped version, black seems to absorb colour in the absence of light.. Have a wonderful weekend, take care and stay safe...

  1. Hmmm that's a tough one, I love both but lean towards the top one perhaps because of the overall dimensions, although I can see your point about the black. Either way stunning colours and light, the black just enhances that. Enjoy your weekend Grace, looks a good one!

  4. Yes, I think I like the top one best, too, but like RedPat it wasn't an easy decision because they are both terrific!! I think it really depends on who is looking at the pics and what each of them see, so some will like a full photo while others would prefer to have it trimmed down a bit and focus on the amazing lighting. Whatever, you got an awesome capture!! Hope you have a lovely weekend, Grace!! Take care and enjoy!!

  9. The cropped photo looks brighter and sharper and it is hard to believe they are the same photo.

  11. Both are good, but I favor the first, original before cropping, it's deeper, or richer in color! What a lovely place to wander about.

  12. Beautiful picture Grace, so much colour it's just bursting! Difficult but I think I'll grow with the cropped version, the panoramic ratio suits it better...

  16. Gorgeous, Grace. I like the uncrossed version, both because the proportions are more pleasing and the black at the bottom explains the context of the light better.

  18. I think that both are really appealing. I don't see anything wrong with the black in the first shot but, I do enjoy both versions. Great night time shots regardless.
