In past shots from Kings Park you may have noticed the building curved around the front of the city to the left above and below. I remember so well the controversy re the design and cost of the Perth Convention Centre.. when it opened in 2004 it was described as having an 'unprepossessing external appearance' and like a 'giant grey cockroach' :) It may well be externally 'challenged' but if you check this link you will see that it has excellent facilities and is well used..
I know you've seen the view from Kings Park many times but it's almost impossible not to turn tourist and take more pics when up there, especially when the skies are so blue.. which by the way was not the case today :) I took these last week. Picnics, posing and selfies.. it's all happening up there overlooking the city.. Hope you're having a good weekend, take care and stay safe..
Of course I'm a fan of the palm trees, what a skyline and naturally the water is the focal point for my attention. I bet it's a lovely convention area too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a beautiful city to me!! I do love your captures and such wonderful skies as a backdrop for an awesome skyline! Hope you're enjoying a great weekend, Grace!!
ReplyDeleteThese shots are lovely, Grace! Winter doesn't look too bad down there.
ReplyDeleteAn impressive skyline... and a beautiful day to capture it.
ReplyDeleteI like those palm trees and the shade underneath.
ReplyDeleteOh that place is just lovely! Having a great weekend here. janey
ReplyDeleteLovely palm trees and beautiful skyline views in these! These cityscapes actually look lovely, with all of the greenery and the water, it makes it look stunning! I certainly wouldn't mind living or working in a place like it. Lovely post! - Tasha
ReplyDeleteWhat a great series of photographs of your beautiful city! I love that convention center. It's unique and stunning, actually! You just can't please all the people. Or even some of them!
ReplyDeleteI am not a city fan (love the country too much) but never the less would love to visit. I have seen Eastern Australia but not West. Have a good day Diane
ReplyDeleteSchöne Bilder von der Stadt.

That is a wonderful looking winter shot!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful looking winter shot!
ReplyDeleteJeez, Grace, you do get the bluest skies in Perth . . .
ReplyDelete"unprepossessing external appearance" What a kind way of saying it damn ugly. I like the second photo with the perfectly positioned palm trees.
ReplyDeleteIt does look slightly odd from on high, I think it's because the roof dominates she viewed from the park....
ReplyDeleteI can only keep repeating " It's a great place to live". Have you looked at this? http://feature.thewest.com.au/nowandthen/
ReplyDeleteAmazing view.
ReplyDeleteGreat sights!
ReplyDeleteUn placer haberme pasado de nuevo por tu espacio.
ReplyDeleteSaludos.
It's a beautiful park and that view is indeed stunning. I rather like it when there is such a grand park in or so close to a city centre. I also rather like the low nature of the convention centre. To my eyes it looks like a garden with the low plantings (convention centre) at the front and the tall, spiky plants at the back (the high rises). But I would probably have been horrified seeing the plans when it was first proposed.
ReplyDeleteYou folks are becoming a real city as we are....mixed feelings of pride and memory....hopes for the future....

I actually like the fact that it isn't a high rise building! Oh I'd be snapping away too but no selfies!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to have a picnic with a view.
ReplyDeleteAmazing park...lovely shots...
ReplyDeleteAlways a great view and some nice and funny shots...
ReplyDeleteThese views are all fantastic! I think a convention center should make a bit of a statement and this one certainly does. It's smooth exterior is sort of melodic.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love Kings Park, Grace! Didn´t know about the Perth Convention Centre - gotta check it out next time!
ReplyDeleteThese skyline shots really show off Perth.
ReplyDeleteCame back across to say thank you for the lovely comments on my last post! - Tasha
ReplyDeletePerth is so beautiful! I wish I lived in a city on the water (and no, the yucky Mississippi River doesn't count).
ReplyDeleteA giant cockroach? That's funny. When the performing arts hall opened in Sarasota many years ago, people were outraged by the design (it's supposed to resemble a seashell) and color (it's purple). Now, the building is so adored by the community that if anyone tried to change it, there would be absolute outrage. : ) Happy Sunday! (Or maybe it's Monday for you by now…)
ReplyDeletePerth looks quite like Auckland. We even have the black swans.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty.
ReplyDeleteImage number 3 is my favourite.
The weekend went too quickly.
It is Monday morning here now.
Image number 4 it should have been.
ReplyDeleteGreat view and skyline!
ReplyDeleteIt's a picturesque area and deserves to be photographed over and over, methinks. The sky IS a beautiful shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteI like these views, Grace !
ReplyDeleteGreat views, great sky and a lovely area to visit.
ReplyDeleteGrand views, Grace!
ReplyDeleteSimply spectacular! Arianna
