Over the rooftops.....

You might wonder what this shot is all about but if I tell you that the outline on the horizon (you might have to pull it in a little closer) is Rottnest Island and that the island is approximately 25 km offshore AND it was a cloudy day, I'm well pleased that I could even see it at all through my new 75 - 300 (150 - 600) lens..yes I couldn't wait, so it's baked beans on toast for the next month haha! I took this shot above yesterday looking over the coastal suburb of Hillarys...and below from the coast road, the yacht was barely visible to the eye, I found it while trying to catch the helicopter. Once again yesterday the world awoke to the tragic news of another senseless act of violence, this time in Boston USA, things like this really shake one's confidence in the superiority of the human brain, when I end off everyday with take care and stay safe, I sincerely mean it..Happy Wednesday, hope it's a good one.....

  1. In the sad world that we live in these days, it is a delight to have some beauty to focus on and I can always find some here on your blog. It's one of the reasons I try to make the focus of my blog one of beauty and laughter. We need all we can find these days. Take care and, indeed, stay safe.

  7. Fabulous shots, Gacie! Sometimes, here, we can see the island Corsica from the shore but it happens very rarely.
I'm so sad about what happened in Boston..

  8. I just love those rooftops! Considering rooftops, Germany is the most boring place in the world, I´d say! Always admired yours and even took pics back then when digital cameras weren´t affordable (to us?), I used film for your roofs!
We´ve also pretended to be interested in buying houses and went to see the show houses in Perth, oh, one can dream, huh? So much space!

Yes, Boston. Oh, my. Just where are we heading to...

  13. Looks like you got yourself a very nice new lens. I've actually looked at Rottnest Island on Google Earth. I love that application. I can prowl the world from satellite level. That rooftop photo is gorgeous.

  15. I can certainly see the island. Like I have, at times you must have seen something in a photo that you did not see when you were taking the photo.

  16. Having fun with your new lens. Good for you. Enjoy your beans. The colours are fab, not the beans the scenes.

  18. I have lens envy!

We are all shell shocked in Boston. I find it difficult to find the words... and with a 10 year old in the house, wea re trying very hard to shield her from the worst of it...

  19. Wonderful to have a camera that one enjoys! Re. Boston tragedy: there is too much evil in the world, yet we must remember that people care and help one another, and the Boston marathon is an illustration of bravery as the first responders and volunteers tried to help others. The recovery process is going to be long and hard!

  23. Yep, that Olympus and its lenses are little marvels.

I'm just sick about what happened in Boston. I've been to the city many times and know the exact location. Evil, unfortunately, is inextinguishable.
