Jamie's in the house.....!

Thanks so much for the good vibes, I think I'm just about ready to 'go out on a limb' for that certain shot again :) and to celebrate this, plus a successful result to a difficult work project for P and even though I missed it on the day, my two year bloggaversary last week, we went into the city on Monday to experience the Jamie Oliver phenomena that hit Perth a few weeks ago. Jamie's Italian, only the second to be opened in Australia so far, the first being in Sydney natch, but pretty chuffed that he picked Perth for the second, is going down a treat with Perthites as you can see from the queue above, this was at 6pm on a Monday night..CRAZY! Thankfully we got there early and walked straight in, I'm not a fan of queuing no matter how good the food is. Check out that chandelier below left, fabulous!..
The food was excellent, locally sourced in season fruit and veg, freshly made pasta and to start, the 'planks of antipasti' (below left) that are a Jamie specialty. On the right 'honeycomb cannelloni '.. mine, pukka tucker!
My sister on returning from the 'ladies' said 'get in there with your camera quick before it gets busy'..a few odd looks later and with a grin on my face I came out with the two shots below, how very Jamie, ever the  joker and so very British haha!
Don't you love it when you can look into the kitchen of a restaurant and see all the action going on? To cope with the volume coming through thick and fast this kitchen was amazingly organized, with smart, stripey aproned waiters at the ready to whisk delicious dishes off to eager diners. All in all the evening was a bit of alright, the dogs bollocks as they say in ye olde Motherland :) Perth is in love with Jamie and I think when he sees those queues he'll be well pleased! Looking forward to catching up with what's been going on in your part of the world today, happy Wednesday, take care and I hope you've all stayed safe.....

  4. Haha, you really could do promotional for them! Happy bloggaversary!! Delicious looking way to mark the occasion and this new opening. I really like the philosophy of going locavore - loved these pix and may the Jamie venture thrive!

  5. Congrats to two years of blogging - and thanks for doing so, too!!
For sharing pics and stories from a great place. So far away.
Jamie Oliver made a great choice, one of the two best towns in the world ;-)
    And now I´m kinda hungry.
Greetings from Tuesday evening. Will look forward to a great Wednesday :-)

  6. Happy Blog Birthday, Grace! I love watching Jamie's shows so to eat the food would be great - one of my favourite recipes is from 1 of his books.
I knew a Tom Crapper who was supposedly a descendent of the loo guy. He later changed his name for his kids' sake.

  7. We don't have anything Jamie yet here in Vegas, most other chefs have a place (or two) of their own. Seems you have been eating up recently!

  8. Yes that has done a lot for my mince leftovers.........

  9. Holy smokes, that's a long line waiting to get in! But, if I were there, I'd be queuing up too! I love Jamie and own several of his cookbooks. I so miss his show on television. I hope to go to London in the fall and I will certainly check out one of his places there. Thanks for all the photos you posted. I almost feel like I was there. Love the shots from the 'loo'!

  12. Glad to see you back Grace. I can't believe Perth has fallen for Jamie Oliver! I'm not a fan but I appreciate that you enjoyed his food (it did look good mind you) and he knows how to "dress" a restaurant.

  13. So much people waiting, that's incredible!!I hope Jamie will reach my town one day..

  14. Just goes to show Grace that Perth's economy etc is doing great for them to open the second Jamie's Italian there alongside Sydney, because no doubt thorough homework would have been done. Oh boy I loved all the photos! Local produce, open kitchen and a Tom Crapper, can't get any better! Your food looked just toooo delicious. :)

  16. Do they really say that? "The dog's bollocks". I'm going to write that down!
    Happy bloggaversary Grace.

  17. Happy Bloggaversary, Grace!

No way...no matter how good the food is, no way would I stand in a line that long....

  18. Not familiar with this restaurant but I'm glad you provided an introduction - it looks like a delightful place and as you've said the food is good - it's no wonder people line up to get in! You do know how to take good food pics.

  19. You are standing in line before 6 p.m.? This will be good practice for when you are a retiree, Grace!

Nice shots. I like open kitchens. Any restauranteur who has the confidence to show the kitchen must have the discipline to keep the kitchen and everything in it clean and healthy.

    Dogs bollocks? Really, Grace!

  20. To wait in such a queque for a meal is ridiculous, by the time it is your turn the kitchen must be out of food! Glad you made it inside and had your meal. Don't they make reservations? Nobody has to wait then.

  21. I can never decide if I like him or not, but you have to admire his ambition.

  24. Looks like a great place. I would surely try it if there were one close by.

  25. Congratulations on your accomplishment. It takes a lot of work and dedication.

I can't imagine a restaurant worth queuing for. We have something similar here, an upscale pizza chain called Pi (get it?) but I'd never spend a half hour in the street waiting for a slice.

  26. You're making me hungry after breakfast!!!

  27. Wow! It does look like Jamie's Italian is jumping in Perth. I haven't heard of Jamie's Italian before. I wonder it will come to Melbourne.

  28. Wow, lucky you to have a Jamie Oliver's restaurant in your city!

I love his cooking recipes, have all his books and try them! What I appreciate about his food is the simplicity of the ingredients and the wonderful mix of flavours. It's just wonderful. Right, so you have just given me another reason to go down under and visit Perth! Have a lovely Wednesday and thanks for the discoveries. A bientôt.

  29. It does feel odd taking a photo in a rest room, but every once in a while I have yielded to the temptation.

  30. i love the term "queuing" as opposed to waiting! i don't like queuing either for food, no matter what it is! we have a fast food place here that opened recently called "cook out" and people just flock to it....it's a bit ridiculous how crowded it is. this looks like a great restaurant and i love jamie!

  31. How nice!Visiting Marina in Portsmouth UK early April, we also had a delicious (lovely) dinner at Jamie's Restaurant there (Italian meal as well).
As they say: "gorgeous people, lovely food, beautiful meals, fantastic wine!" :)
    Lovely indeed!

  35. I missed an opening of one of his restaurants in England by two days - so frustrating!
That is quite a display of food!
