A fleeting glimpse of blue .....!

This is the view looking out from Spinnakers Cafe just across the boardwalk on the other side of Hillarys Boat Harbour (good little video). Boats pull in here to fill up with petrol before heading out past the sea wall into the great blue yonder. The weather has been a little scary the last couple of days, even though there were the occasional little bursts of blue it's been mostly grey and wet, if you pull the shot in you'll see the raindrops on the window.  As tempting as it was, we didn't have a glass of award winning cab merlot, although the sun would have been 'over the yardarm' somewhere in the world it was only 10.30am in Perth, so it was coffee all round!
The waves crashing in from the Indian Ocean were lashing against the pier that leads out to the lighthouse, I thought these two guys fishing off the rocks were chancing their luck in such rough weather, but I was pleased to see them feeding two of the many feral cats that live around the marina, poor little creatures it's horrible to think of them out when it's stormy like this.....
Then it was home and indoors just minutes before the storm broke..halleluiah I'm talking hail, thunder and lightning..the works! More of the same tomorrow and then a beautiful weekend, can't be bad oui! Happy Thursday, I hope all is well in your part of the world, take care and stay safe.....

  1. Lovely, moody skies and great captures for the day, Grace! What a wonderful place to have lunch!! I love your rainy day shot! Still no rain in the forecast for Seattle!! for the next 10 days!!! If that's the case then we'll break all the records!!! With the wild fire season all around, it doesn't sound that good to us here in Seattle! Hope your week is going well, too! Enjoy!

  3. Your last shot just reminded me of the kind of view I am going to have from my Seattle window over the next 10 months. Merde! For now, however, wonderful blue skies and sun. Incroyable! I guess winter really does happen in Australia after all... Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  11. Great to think of those guys feeding the feral cat Grace ... Poor little thing! one of my son-in-laws.brought a feral kitten home years ago and they have had her for over 10years but she still has that feral streak and can get quite aggressive ...maybe that's comes from tough beginnings.
    Love your rain storm capture.

  15. Hi Stranger!!! I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back. Life has been crazy. Work, photography, meetings....etc etc....and the blogging part had to take a back seat.

I like the scary weather sometimes....and it does sound exciting to me for some reason but stay safe. Poor kitties....life is tough out there so it's nice to see that people care about our furry friends:)

  16. Between the water and the sky, there looks to be plenty of blue! And if you want your spring flowers, you've got to endure some rains. :)

  17. All of that weather is nasty but remember, spring is just around the corner. There is hope.

Poured down rain in Birmingham when Virginia and I went out to shoot their Color Run. She stayed in the car. I went for it.

  18. Nice shots. Did I see a wine list?

  19. I wonder how diners would feel if in addition to watching the boats fill up with gas, they could see how much the cost is for a fill up of a large boat.

  20. Certainly does look like wild weather over there in Perth. You must have been pleased to get home and crank the heater up.
