From a safe height.....!
I know I've shown you my Mr Grumpy Galah many times, but I couldn't resist a bit of a story..We used to have our wild bird feeder nearer ground level for many years, but in the last six months I've been adopted as 'second mum' to this gorgeous little cat below. Sydney lives just around the corner from me and when mum No.1 leaves for work she zips over to my place for breakfast and a cuddle, and then I send her off home for dinner..sometimes she doesn't want to go, and I would love it if she could stay. The thing is, even though Sydney has two meals a day, she has a very strong 'hunting' urge, so P has had to put the feeders up high on the pool fence out of reach, I'd like to say 'and peace reigned' but this morning Mr Grumpy took great delight in hopping about squawking loudly, teasing Sydney below who was not amused! Did I mention she goes mad when she sees the errant ducks in the pool, mind you so does P, all that duck poo haha!! I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone today, have missed reading your news..Have a wonderful weekend, take care.....

Das ist ja ein toller Vogel, und klar, welcher Kater hätte den nicht gerne zum spielen...:-)

Nothing can be done against a cat's Hunting urge, stay careful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and pretty visitor you have and I bet she does love those colorful birds! Fun post for the day, Grace, and I do hope you're feeling much better! Never fun being ill!! I also hope you have great weather and a great weekend! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnd a black cat at that - bad luck for everyone concerned!! :D
ReplyDeleteHope your on the way to a full recovery! I love that bird's beautiful colours, so soft! And the cat is terrific, you caught that stalkerish instinct perfectly - hope it's a great weekend for you!
ReplyDeleteMr Grumpy looks OK to me. He will tease the cat mind, but one day he might be a bit slow......!
ReplyDeleteHave you painted it? ;-))
ReplyDeleteWonderful bird.
Great story, Grace! You can't reform a cat.
ReplyDeleteDelicious cat and parrot. It's very hot here! Arianna
ReplyDeleteI love the color of that bird...and the cat is a pretty one...just doing what cats are inclined to do...have a great weekend! We are off on a trip - will catch up with you when I return!
ReplyDeleteFunny story; fantastic bird shot and I love that little black hunter!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good weekend too Dr Doolittle.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Sydney, I'd be sort of scared!!!! Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHehe I got my own cocktiel that has the worst temper in the people i have known.
ReplyDeleteThe colour is truely vivid. A proud cockatoo.
Wonderful wing spread on the galah! He does look as if he has launched into the grumpy dance! Gorgeous story in this post! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love the fun:) It reminds me of growing up with my mother's birds. The parrots didn't like the cats very much:) And they could be mean:) But what a beautiful pair of friends to have around:) Have a good weekend!!
ReplyDeleteSydney is definitely looking to make a meal of Mr. Grumpy Galah.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful the locks - haven't seen alike over here yet. Please have you all a good weekend.
how delightful to lounge in your garden with you and the creatures. Yes, cats do enjoy having multiple lives. reminds me of a joke I can't quite remember, in which the cat returns to home #2 with a note pinned to the collar . . . . .
ReplyDeleteIf I were a little cat, I'd come over for a cuddle as well

Wonderful shot!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun sight. My toy poodle loves to chase the willy wagtails who like to tease her. Arent they so funny? Fiona
ReplyDeleteI'm continually amazed at the different shades of pink in galahs around the country. But can't wait to see a fake one - the Big Galah at Kimba, South Australia!!! Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThat is some pink cat food.
ReplyDeleteMy cats also delight in frightening off the birds that come to our garden. Just the Wagtails love to tease them, hope they don´t get caught off guard one day!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that top shot is simply breath taking. What wonderful visitors you have both furry and feathered.
ReplyDeleteTruly Grace that is one spectacular photo of 'Mr Grumpy' galar. We have them visit here, but I can never get a decent photo of them.
ReplyDeleteSharon is absolutely correct on both counts. The bird photo is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteMr grumpy's photo is fantastic. Enjoy what is left of your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteKinda reminds me of the Simon's Cat video, "Snow Business" http://youtu.be/Tuf61OjvoPQ
ReplyDeleteSlightly different weather in that video ... but it is winter in Perth!
Don't think I have ever seen a Galah. Beautiful bird...and very appetizing to Sydney!
ReplyDeleteWhy did he get the name Grumpy, I wonder? Cool colors.
