The decision to change the day of the picnic from Saturday to Sunday was definitely not the wise move! Yesterday the skies were blue, today (yesterday in Australia) the wind howled and the rain came down in much needed bucketfuls over the city and suburbs. No worries, the birthday celebrations went ahead indoors and were a great success, you can't let a wee bit of rain spoil a three year old's birthday party oui! I love the city on days like this, it's so beautifully bleak, please tell me I'm not the only one who enjoys 'bleak' now and then! It's a good thing I do because there's more of the same for the next few days..bring it on! Hope you had (and perhaps are still having) a great weekend, take care and stay safe.....

Ha! Just like home!
ReplyDeleteWell taken pics, but difficult while driving......
ReplyDeleteBleak "now and then" is fine, but our winters on the cost gives us days on end, or so it seems, of bleak. Great #1 shot, says it perfectly!
ReplyDelete'on the coast" - errant finger this morning!
DeleteGlad you got the needed rain!! That's one thing we have an abundance of here in Seattle!! But having grown up in the western part of Texas, I know all too well how welcome rain can be! As a result, I love the rain and the northwest, even though I whine occasionally!! But then that's one thing old broads are usually adept at anyway!! Glad the birthday party went well, that's all that matters!! Rest well and have a great tomorrow -- rain or otherwise!!
ReplyDeleteQuel temps !
ReplyDeleteWow, what an arty photo, Grace, well done!
ReplyDeleteSchöne Regenbilder, da hat jemand den Regentanz aber gut beherrscht...
ReplyDeleteLieben Gruß
CL
Et tu écris en français , bravo! :o)
ReplyDeleteyou can't imagine HOW GOOD it is to see rain!!! even in picture. I like it and miss it soooo much!
I wish you a nice week, dear Grace!
Your rain shots on the window are really cool looking. I enjoy rain as well. We get it rarely so rain events are big here in town. Everyone gets excited and in fact, my students get a little antsy on those days. So the birthday indoors sounds perfect:)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered you have a lady by the name of Vasna who lives in Perth. I guess she's a fortune teller. In fact, I think this guy who makes the vids and music is from Perth! He created a video called Gardyn for his mother that makes me happy everytime I hear it. The guy goes by Pogo on youtube. There is a video on Visna and then another called Perthfection.
I need to motivate today and get the day going. Hope you have a great week and enjoy that rain!
Oh, that's what it looks like! Kind of reminds me when my wife saw snow for the first time ever, 5 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWhen it rains, it ... right? Actually, there's nothing like a good rain. It rains most afternoons here during the summer months. Love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do like bleak days. Once in awhile. Not too often. Occasionally. When it's been hot and sunny for a long time.
I don't like cold, snowy bleak days though. Not at all.
That's why I live in Florida! :-)
Like your shots of the rain Grace.
ReplyDeleteThe farmers probably liked the rain.
ReplyDeleteDidn't think that 'bleak' happened in Perth! Love your photos.
ReplyDeleteI am not a bleak lover...I am a sunshine girl. However, I am also a realist...rain is much needed and appreciated. Just like to grumble and gripe a bit. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteBleak is good, but not too much, sunshine is better.
ReplyDeleteI can take a day or two of rain and then it becomes depressing!
ReplyDeleteLooks like our day today. In fact it's still raining. Here's hoping for sunny days ahead.
ReplyDeleteI am also one of those people who can enjoy the bleak wet days...but do prefer the warmth and sunshine that we currently have here in Brissy. Have a great week Gracie.
ReplyDeleteYour first photo and the final mirror shot are superb! Bleak used as "good?" That is new to me.
ReplyDeleteRainy days in the city offer challenges, but also rewards. I like grey misty days too.
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy some 'bleak' but London might've just made me change my mind! :) Love all the shots but that first one is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove the rainy day photos and yes, I do love those bleak days every now and then. In fact if you could send a few this way it would be much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteIt was a true winter day with the wind howling most of the day and night! It scares me a bit, I rather have sunny days!
ReplyDeleteOui ... je pense qu'il pleuvait très fort ... Je n'aime pas le froid et la pluie.
ReplyDeleteI love rain but not too much rain. We also had a party. Good thing we decided to change the venue indoors the day before. :D
ReplyDeleteici on fait le chemin inverse, le soleil prend enfin ces marques. impressionnante la première photo
ReplyDeleteSo even Perth has wet weather sometimes!! Have a nice week Grace...
ReplyDeleteMy goodness the Big Wet continues.
ReplyDeleteThe rain drops on the windscreen render your view artistic. The last shot hast that fantastic processing to give the artistic look too.
ReplyDeleteThat is the weather for you!
ReplyDeleteto paraphrase milton, all things are good in moderation...including bleak.
ReplyDeleteThis is what we see whole summer here, downpour after downpour and sometimes some sun when everybody jumps outside immediately.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least it made for a wonderful first photo here.
ReplyDeleteWe have afternoon showers here in the mountains...perfect for napping. We both mentioned picnics today!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of the rain! We have had a couple of sunny days here for a change. I was getting tired of the thunderstorms.
ReplyDeleteGood image of rain! Arianna
ReplyDeletelove the rainy windshield shot
ReplyDeleteIsn't water wonderful?!
ReplyDeleteHola, la lluvia siempre otorga buenos momentos para fotografiar, me gustan las fotos en dias de lluvia, va un cordial saludo enla distancia, Rodisi
ReplyDeleteYou even make rain beautiful and toast gourmet!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to look in tomorrow to see your photo and link, Sis.

What I love about rain is the cool and soothing feeling it gives. I also like taking pictures of the surroundings when raining. It adds a natural drama to a certain photo just like the photos you took.
ReplyDeleteNo worries: the Australian national motto. I love bleak days, too. No place better to shoot them, though, than the cemeteries of Paris.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos. This is from a digi cam rite? But they have this lomo cam effect to it cos of the somewhat low res... The rain makes it more beautiful tho
ReplyDeleteThe top shot is so cool! According to the forecast we'll have rain and thunderstorms late in the evening. What is this? It's August!!!
ReplyDeleteWe badly need some rain!
ReplyDeleteWe have had more rain, than the last 15 years.....
ReplyDeleteLooks like Stavanger some of your images.
I should not complain, we have seen the sun shining for nearly a week, if you take a couple of days out....
Looks nice just now.
