Wolfe on King.....

When I discovered that the theme for April was 'cobblestones' I thought, hang on a tick, cobblestones in Perth, come on, we're not even two hundred years old yet!! Thankfully after a wee bit of Googling, I found the 'forgotten laneway project' site which led me to Wolfe Lane off  King Street, which apparently comes to life after dark by way of a mega trendy wine bar, who knew!!
More cobblestones on the corner of  King and Murray Street and the The Belgian Beer Cafe, where they serve the best in traditional Belgian beer and food. While Perth's cobblestones may not be  hundreds of years old..in 2212 they will be.....!! Interesting fact discovered by my sister-in-law Sue, cobblestones made from the Jarrah trees in our forests here in WA can be found in London and Berlin, nice work Perth! I've been having a few blogging problems with commenting, so I'm hoping all will be well today.. The CDP theme for April is cobblestones.    Click here to view all participants of this theme day

  9. I like that second photo, too, Grace, if only I could work out whether the person was male or female. Matters nowt as I am positive they are a shopaholic!

The City of Perth site tells me that the granite cobbles were discovered beneath a layer of bitument. Fashion goes in cycles, yes?

  32. Hi Grace! Re your question on The Villages. As you may know, The Villages is a kind of Disneyland for adults, so these buildings were created to have an aged appearance but are actually just a few years old. I can't remember for sure, but I do believe this building is actually a mortgage company. Or a lawyer's office. I'll check the next time we go down there.

  34. Good for you finding Wolfe Lane. And isn't it just lovely. It surprises me to when I see all the cobbles there are around the world. I'd not have expected so many of them.

  38. Wow, what a find !
I had to chuckle at the "Bière garden" sign as there's never been such a thing or even such a concept in France. Having your beer outdoors has never been other than at a terrace overlooking the street - no backyards here !
