A little while ago I mentioned I was looking for a new chair to go with the desk P had made for me. I didn't want a modern chair, I was after something old with a bit of character. On Thursday I went to check out the antique shops along Beaufort Street, I hadn't been along there for ages and was surprised to see that most of the antique shops had disappeared (most people buying IKEA these days I was told). I did however come across exactly what I was looking for in Central Antiques (if you look you'll see my chair in there). It's a Victorian balloon backed chair, made in oak, that just needed a little bit of tightening up (hmmm, there's line there I'm sure!) to make it as good as new. Anyway this is where I sit, in front of the window looking onto the front garden and prepare my blog, I was wondering where you do yours....!

So where is YOUR blog 'spot'.....?

My blog spot used to look like this. I still have the same view but everything else is new. My chair is a modern office chair, so you win!
ReplyDeleteMy blog spot is the reclining sofa in my living room, normally. I can put my feet up, have my coffee at my right hand, and blog to my heart's content! Plus, I have a lamp directly over my right shoulder, and my laptop desk for my lap, so I am SO comfortable! I love your new chair...have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteWonderful chair it turned out to be.
ReplyDeleteSit on me wooden chair, that once i carried through pooring rain, on the day i delivered my speach to obtain a diploma as an accountant ... to make a long story short ;)
Please have a good Sunday ahead.
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteMine is a small niche with books above and an old oak wooden chair that came from the closing of a rehab hospital probably 50 years ago - my dad bought a bunch of them. It's messy but it's my space!
ReplyDeleteI usually sit in my chair that made in the 40's with my laptop on my lap. I prefer antiques to newer furnishings.
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful chairs. Glad you found what you were looking for.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a romantic, Grace. The two old chairs are very lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy blog spot? I post from a laptop on my lap wherever I might be sitting at the time. I'm not as territorial, so I don't have a fixed location.
Since i have no view of a garden only a clothesline, wooden fence and a brick wall My Blogspot is in the second bedroom with a 7 speaker surround system connected to the hard drive so i can listen to music on CD it compensates for the lack of a view. I'm now listening to Tender Prey by our own Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds :-).
ReplyDeleteI try and take my blogspot anywhere via a laptop. Isn't a shame that "Ye Olde Antique Shoppe" have largely disappeared.
ReplyDeleteI love both of your chairs!! I feel so dull now with just my old regular office chair!!! You are indeed such a romantic, Grace!! I do have an office in my apartment with big windows and an awesome view!! Just lucked out on the move here a year ago! But wherever you sit, in whatever chair, just as long as you keep blogging!!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
I think I love the antique furniture that I wanted in my house all the furniture of my grandmother!!! I really like your chair, you did a really good buy!
ReplyDeleteI confess to spending too long in my desk chair, so it does need to be a comfortable office chair. Hmmm, it is about twenty years old. I think it was quite expensive.
ReplyDeleteMeglio la tua sedia che quelle dell'ikea!! Buona domenica...ciao
ReplyDeleteTu nous fait partager un peu de ton intimité, Gracie. Merci!
I like the great work you made on your chairs!
ReplyDeleteMy computer is on an old table in the corner of the living room. On the wall above, a very big poster in B&W showing a sand beach and the sea, and all around many pictures of gardens and flowers.
You made an excellent choice, and I do believe that the blogger sitting on it in front of your computer likes it, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the peek into your blog world -- great idea! It's nice envisioning you tapping away on your computer in front of a large picture window. I like that you included your camera on the sofa. (Is that a Canon?) As for me, I'm quite mobile, using a laptop. For instance, right now, I'm sitting on my lanai (screened in patio) enjoying the sunrise, cool weather and birds chirping away. Sometimes I'm in my home office...other times I'm on the road. (But, never too far away from my blog friends!) Have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeletewow! what a cozy room you have. ^0^
ReplyDeletei am always curious how one's abode looks like, and where they get inspired and blog.
unfortunately for me though, my space isn't as pretty as yours, haha. it's cramped and just a simple sofa and table. ^0^
love your new victorian chair, Mr. P, sure did a gr8 job, two thumbs up!! ^-^
ps: cute, cute teddy. *hugs*
... any place my laptop lands. This morning looking out at the backyard's thawing ground.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cool idea, Grace. I will show you my blog 'spot' one of these days. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat great old chairs and I'm feeling very happy for them to have found such a loving home.
ReplyDeleteSince I bought my Mac last summer, I seem to do my blog posts from almost anywhere I want. But, I must say that most of the time I'm sitting at my dining room table.
I am now on my couch, sometimes at my desk in the other room, but the chair is not so nice.
ReplyDeleteNice blog spot, Grace, I am sure, the Teddy is a great help for you.
ReplyDeleteIs that you sitting there....?
ReplyDeleteBalloon backed chairs are cool. Hope your new level of comfort results in more great posts.
ReplyDeleteUnless I am "on the road" I work in my upstairs office on a large table with a tall bar stool height chair. On one side is art, glass, beads, art supplies and on the other is my work and blogging. Oskar is positioned midway.
ReplyDeleteI love your new antique and your teddy.
Bises,
Genie
Love those old chairs. Unfortunately it's so hard to find something contemporary done by a master craftsperson (and then it costs an arm and a leg - more than an antique sometimes!).
ReplyDeletelove the new chair.. I could see the bums on your sofa .. and I do most of my blog writing at home at my desk there ... but I occasionally (okay, every Monday morning) write it from my desk at the office .. sssh .. I am supposed to be working!
ReplyDeleteVery nice (with the accent on very, please!)
ReplyDeleteWherever I lay my laptop, that's my home! I love the portability - and the different vistas!!
ReplyDeleteFancy chair! I'm still trying to figure out my spot...contemplating getting a small sofa or not :)
ReplyDeleteNice spot and nice chairs. Must say my spot is not as fancy but there are lots of books and a bit of artwork around so it really does make for an interesting place to be!
