Twenty two Winnie the Pooh!

Interesting to see that after all the rain we have had over winter Mundaring Weir, as at yesterday, is holding 30.38GL of water, 47.8% of its capacity, compared to last year at this time when it held 20.28GL, 31.9% of its capacity, so up by 10.1GL. Even more fascinating that the last time the water flowed over the dam below was 22 years ago in 1996.. even more fascinating :) the last time before that was in 1974, exactly 22 years previously.. can you see where I'm going with this? We are now 2018, exactly 22 years apart.. is it possible with all this rain that I might be showing you shots like these before the end of winter.. that really would be fascinating! Happy Saturday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. I don't play bingo but couldn't resist the play on words in title 😉

  1. Keep an eye out. An impressive structure!

I admit, I had no idea what that title meant. Clearly nothing at all to do with a silly old bear, oh bother...

  2. It sounds like you have a 22 year cycle going on there. That is an interesting fact.

  3. ...I've herd that Australia is having a serious draught and kangaroos are a problem for farmers.

  4. That is a lot of water which I guess you needed, Grace!

    Cheers

  7. Can't imagine seeing it full if it's still just under half it's capacity! Dams are impressive structures.

  11. Winnie the Pooh plays bingo??
Just having more water than last year is a perk. It sure would be interesting to see if the 22 year cycle holds!

  12. I certainly thought there would be a lot more water in the dam Grace, still it's good that it's higher than last year.

  13. It would be great to see the spillway working. You don't have snow, so there is not the snow melt as we have here to help fill the weir.

  15. the pun on the title escapes me a little, but I am delighted to see that the rain falls abundantly at home. Here, it's always more or less hot and dry. Have a good week ahead

  16. The makers of the dam knew already the necessity of overflowing. Good from them.

  17. That is strange the 22 years regularity flooding. Great views of the countryside

  18. Isn't twentytwo "two little ducks" in Bingotalk? I haven't heard the Winnie the Pooh connection before, but then I don't actually play Bingo! I am hoping that your 22 prediction comes true and you have lots of water to keep you going for ages.

  20. I loved the play on words too especially reference to Winnie, I did think you maybe went to see the new movie Christopher Robin. It's definitely on our list! Besides the grand-kiddos my daughter, and daughter in laws have to see it too!

  21. You never know - it will surely happen again someday. At the end of the last drought in Sydney we told Waragamba Dam would never fill again ... and it did. Being in the midst of another big drought I guess people are beginning to think that way again. But the drought will break.
