Or as I like to call it the 'roller-coaster bridge'. The newly opened Matagarup Bridge, or as Aimee likes to call it the 'Leggo/Meccano' bridge :) Check out the two minute video showing how it was put together here. This and the relatively new Elizabeth Quay Bridge add two dramatic new features to the Perth city-scape. Above and below heading over the bridge from East Perth to the Optus Stadium which opened earlier this year..
Below heading back to the city, seen to the right..
Below you can see why the new bridge reminds me of a rollercoaster oui! This is where the Activated Art Walk that I posted about yesterday concluded. Still a little bit of landscaping around and under the bridge to be completed but already looking quite spectacular. Who remembers when I used to have a conniption fit whenever anything changed in Perth.. got to move with the times or get left behind right 😉 Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
It really does feel like a roller coaster!
ReplyDelete...now that's quite the bridge!
ReplyDeleteVery cool.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the roller-coaster look to this bridge. Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteImpressive looking bridge and I can see how it resembles a roller coaster. Cool video too, it's incredible how they just fitted the pieces together like it came from an erector set.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite spectacular for a pedestrian bridge! I agree it does look like a roller coaster. Wish I could play the video but out computer speeds seem to be getting slower and sower!!! Keep well Diane
ReplyDeleteIt looks spectacular, Grace! I'm glad you are liking some of the changes! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the one Sami mentioned last week. It looks complex and quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteSuch an impressive structure! Great photos too.
ReplyDeleteSo that looks very fragile. Thinking about the bridge in Genua its a remarkable piece of construction here.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that does look like a rollercoaster. It's an amazing sight. I am always impressed by the amount of growth and development in your city.
ReplyDeleteIt was great curves. Speaking of great curves . . .
ReplyDeleteI had thought it looked like 2 swans or snakes from the side, but it does look like a roller coaster :)
ReplyDeleteRoller coaster indeed. That's a really beautiful bridge! (I have a friend and former coworker who's a structural engineer who's fascinated with bridges of all kinds. He's opened up for me a whole new appreciation of bridges. You've really captured the gorgeous lines of this one.)
ReplyDeleteDo like that bridge, looks like a piece of Art
ReplyDeleteI copy all that, Grace, even the last sentence :-)
ReplyDeleteHello Grace,
ReplyDeleteGood shots of this wonderful bridge. A great kind of architecture.
Amazing with the clear blue sky.
Greetings, Marco
This one looks far more steady than the Italian bridge in Genua! I like it with those bows.
ReplyDeleteEspectacular esta ponte.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom Feriado.

Wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Modern and artistic! Sort of reminds me of the new portion of the SF Bay Bridge. We have so many bridges here that I am becoming a connoisseur. Esp the golden Gate, but I love all their uniqueness and appreciate your fine shots today!
ReplyDeleteA roller coaster describes it well!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Fabulous photos of this very modern looking bridge, Grace !
ReplyDeleteThe long view definitely looks like a roller coaster. You are right! It is a most unusual design.
ReplyDeleteThis is like a roller coaster, not that I'm a fan of riding any of them! Yikes, what we did as children, not always so much now!
