Café de Grace.. open for summer!

Put out seed and they will come! From the tops of my hibiscus bush to high up in the old gum tree next door the word spread.. 'Café de Grace' is open for business :) Heralded to the general winged population by the colourful backyard criers above and below. Did you know that Rainbow Lorikeets pair up and are monogamous for life.. maybe that's why they always look so grumpy.. kidding :)

It didn't take long for the Galahs and doves to fly in..

It was a free-for-all.. let the food good times roll :) I hope you're pleased to see them, I kind of missed the noisy, messy little creatures! Happy Thursday.. where did Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday go? Take care and stay safe... p.s. the colours are true!

  1. Don't you sometimes wonder why all the colorful birds flew to Australia? :-)

  4. Good Lord, what a wonderful bunch of avians! You are fortunate to have them provide color and drama to your property. We have some noisy little green parrots in south Florida but nothing like that here in Ocala although there are some colorful specimens at Walmart from time to time!

  8. It is so nice to know that some birds pair for life and monogamy is a natural situation for some animals. Australia's black swans pair for life and were thought to be monogamous until researchers started gene testing different swans and oh dear, it was discovered that there was plenty of shenanigans among swans. I am sure nothing like that would be happening in your back yard with your lorikeets. Interesting to learn that they are not native to your side of the continent are are considered a pest species in WA.

  11. The galahas are gorgeous. What a bright, bright pink. And the Rainbow Lorikeets...they remind me of some of the birds we saw in Costa Rica. Are these coming to your yard. If so you are one lucky gal. They don’t need any napkins when they eat..hehehe.
