Applecross views.. South of the Swan.

The Swan River separates the northern and southern suburbs of Perth and not often the twain shall meet. It's been said that an excursion for either side to cross the river is 'cheaper than an overseas trip but just as foreign' :) it's true! An article titled North V South, when tribes go to war will give you some idea and although personally I could never live South I'm sure it can't be that bad :) I took these shots looking out over to the city just around the corner from yesterdays Art Deco gem in Applecross. Applecross takes it's name from the Applecross Peninsula on the north west coast of Scotland.. just incase you were wondering :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

  7. The first image could almost be a view across Port Phillip Bay, looking toward Melbourne. Love water view like this with a sense of space.

  8. Love the name, "Swan River"! But if people from the same city can't live together well, what chance does the world have for the future?

  9. I like that the author of North V South had sex workers and lawyers in the same sentence.

  13. Yes it's an interesting point Grace this north / south thing. Being a Londoner I don't feel I could ever live South of the river and I have worked with people from the south side who regard the northern side as alien....lets hope the river never gets filled in..

  15. Yonge St divides Toronto into east and west end and you are either a west end person or an east end person usually forever!
    Love yesterday's place, Grace!

  16. I've lived in 3 North, 4 South - as long as it's near water I'm happy! Great shots!!

  17. I guess that there are many places with rivaliries. In Houston it was the inner loopers and outer loopers ( inside and outside the road that looped around the city).

  18. Gorgeous views! So you have your own little north and south rivalry. Seems fair!

  20. It's funny how territorial people will get! Looks nice on both sides.

  21. Here we have always a rivaliry between Amsterdam and Rotterdam another big city, it is something stupid of people, but also funny.

  22. I enjoyed reading the North v South link you provided. Funny/strange how cities divide themselves.

  23. how funny that two places so close together could be so different!

  24. I´m a "Northie" then, Grace. Always "lived" in Wanneroo/Landsdale and it feels quite like "home" there (though, certainly, if we ever make it I think I want a tad more comfort than we had there, right?)
On the other hand.... the zoo! And I was greeted by dolphins getting off the ferry there in 2006, I´ll never forget that.
Ack. You make me fell "home-sick"! ;-)

  25. Hartford is on the Connecticut River, which isn't even very wide, but if you live on the west side (as I do), you just don't go to the east side, and if you live on the east side, you don't go to the west side.
