The 'Footsie Tree' ?

I'm stumped! I've Googled almost to breaking point :) There has to be a story behind this whimsical mural found on a garage wall along Hay St.but it has successfully eluded moi! Although it was a futile search I did learn something from the exercise.. in the high powered world of stocks and shares the FTSE (footsie) tree is 'an objective benchmark against which to measure investment portfolios'.. I'm sure the real story behind this mural would be so much more entertaining :) Huge storm here last night, haven't been out to check for damage yet! Hope you had or are still having a fab weekend, take care...p.s. no parking overtime here, clamped and $135 fine, glad I was walking!

  1. Ah, a "footsie" tree indeed!! You do find the best photo stuff, Grace!! I always look forward to seeing what you've come up with every day -- I'm never disappointed!! We're still having unusually warm weather for September in the northwest, but I'm not complaining!! Have a great new week!!

  6. Grace, I am curious too why you couldn't find any reference to its origin or artist on the Internet? Very mysterious.

  16. This is hysterical. It looks like it's an illustration from a children's book. A weird one, to be true, but no doubt fascinating. I note that the tree has seven feet. Seven is such an evocative number across many cultures, that it too must have some meaning. Let us know if you find out more about this eye catching mural. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  26. Here we get 'booted' with a device that makes your vehicle a 'no go'. If that happened you'd be walking for sure.

  27. Hello Grace, I hope everything there is fine, please take care. I'm always terrified by storms.
This tree mural is wonderful! We can imagine many stories about the painted tree.

  31. Wow, I love that mural, Grace! Your fines... wow. In that case... too high. But I saw (1999, somewhere in Oz) a real high fine for parking on spots reserved for disabled - right thing to do!
Yips, hope there isn´t too much damage due to the storm (yes, reading backwards due to your introduction "Moreton Bay Fig trees in yesterdays post.. ".
