The 'safe' approach, a 'penchant for a pop' and blame it on Bill.....!

One of my New Year's resolutions is to become a little braver in approaching people and perhaps taking their  picture.. with Aimee's help I began my 'quest' the safe way with characters that were actually there to be approached :) Piazzarama is a series of free summer events held in the Northbridge Piazza.. yesterday's being a Disney themed event. Thankfully Aimee has always been a huge fan of Disney films and was quite happy to pose, albeit a little demurely with Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear above, characters from the movie Toy Story.

On the way back to the city we spied the Delish Ice Pop-Up Popsicle Shop below on William St., a very cool idea and mural don't you think.. Aimee had a 'ginger beer mint & lime', tres delish indeed!  It's very rarely that I get hooked into anything on TV these days, but last night I was totally enthralled by a documentary called Bill Cunningham New York (short trailer), talk about the ultimate 'street photographer'.. I wonder how many of you New Yorkers have seen him riding around on his bike.. anyway you can blame him for my lack of visits last night :) I hope you had or are having a fab weekend, catch you today.. take care and stay safe.....

  2. Aimee's hair really helps make your photos pop! Such nice color. I do street photography when I get to where there are streets but I usually just hold the camera low and take stealth photos. I just do it for my own fun so I am not publishing photos of people for money. Not sure how all that works with release forms. I think most public places are fair game. Anyway we used to do it with 35mm b&w back in the old days. Fun stuff.

  4. Never seen Toy Story, I didn't even recognise the characters. Except for Aimée, of course! :-) Love how they painted that to look like an ice cream van!

  10. With that bright red hair and fantastic smile, who could turn down Aime? At first I thought you were talking about a pizzarama and thought, "Oh boy, that would taste good." But nooooo. I'll bet you could find some pizza around the piazza somewhere, right?

  13. Without any intention or knowledge of what was on tv, I too sat mesmerised by the doco about Bill Cunningham. I had not even heard of him before. Do you have a bicycle Grace?

  15. Lush color and warmth. It's sooo cold (-23C tonight) and sooo white here. If I ever get to Perth I'll teach you how to photograph strangers.

  18. Building the confidence to approach people is something I think a lot of photographers need to work on. It can be very intimidating!
