High on the hill.....

I pass this bench sitting solitary on the top of a sand dune every time I do the Burns Beach walk and each time I see it I think how pleasant it would be to stop for a few minutes, sit and take in the sights and smells of the Indian Ocean, sadly I never do..life seems to be one big rush, like yesterday for instance, ziiiiiiiip it's gone and I didn't get a chance to make any visits, will catch up today! I hope you 'chill out' this weekend..I hope I do too haha!

  1. What a lovely, peaceful spot!! I would enjoy spending some time there, too, but like you, I probably would seldom if ever actually take the time to stop and enjoy!! I'm better at that than I once was though! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Grace!

  3. You should snap a photo every time you pass by here. Would make for a cool series.

  4. Now here is a spot from which to sit and watch the sea. Indulge yourself and dedicate 5 minutes to catch the view from the top as often as you pass this way. Steffe is right, it would make an interesting series. I like your sky.

  5. Great location for a bench to relax and enjoy the view. I know what you mean about days rushing by. I don't know how many bloggers are able to take photos, post every day and comment other blogs. Here's to squeezing in a relaxing weekend!

  6. Well, at least you found time to photograph the bench. Everything can be achieved in small stages. Next time you might go and touch the bench. And next time....
If you ever make it be sure to let us know!

  9. It looks extremely inviting, and even more so now that I know it overlooks the Indian Ocean. Although I like the green-grey seas that surround so much of Britain, the Indian Ocean sounds far more beautiful and exotic!

  10. Alone on the hill.
    Waiting.
    Offering respite from the day.
    Yearning to share.
    Yet still alone.

  11. Nice bench - looks like a beautiful place to sit! One day, you have to just take a few minutes for yourself and go up that hill and check it out! And then tell us about it, of course! Have a wonderful weekend!

  15. Sometimes we have to make ourselves stop, even momentarily, to actually look and enjoy what is around us. Take some time for yourself, Grace, and have a great weekend. Hugs!

  16. Sometime you just have to make the time! Give yourself a bit of time there next time you go by.

  17. I know the feeling. The roses better be very fragrant because we rush by so quickly. Take time to stop and smell them? Only when we learn how to stop time.

  18. Well if you ever sit there, don't take your modern world appliances with you to comment!

  19. I do like this photo. There is something sort of sad about empty seats. I think next time you take this walk Grace it would be good to go and sit in the spot where this seat was for 5 minutes and take in the view.

  20. I'd do it tomorrow for spite! hahahaha

  22. Have you ever seen the bench in use? Quite a solitary place. I am feeling a bit melancholy looking at this.

  24. In other words, you and the rest of us need to stop and smell the roses (or, in this case the ocean)? Very good idea. Much easier, sometimes to say, than to put into practice! I think I got busier after I retired than I was when working!

Re your question on The Villages: What you see on that back wall (which is the main wall of the theater) are old movie posters. They're not really. They're made to look that way so you might think it's a really old building. But The Villages, being a Disneyland for adults, is only about 30-35 years old!

  27. Malyss sent me over from her bench blog. I, too, have a bench blog but haven't loaded any benches lately as I have been involved in other things presently but I keep collecting them and one day . . . THAT SAID, I love the perfect spot for "your" bench! Promise yourself you will stop and enjoy it for at least a few minutes next time you pass by -- you have time as you already took a photo of the bench and you can take photos from a bench just as well.
